Welcome! I focus on treating anxiety-related concerns including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and OCD. I’m especially passionate about supporting young adults’ and college students’ mental health. “Sticky”, ruminative thoughts— the kind that feel like gum stuck on the bottom of your shoe—do not respond to traditional approaches that aim to prove your anxious thoughts wrong. Instead, we will work on flexibility around these sticky thoughts, and build self-compassion. I do not consider thoughts as “good” or “bad”, but rather as “helpful” or “unhelpful.” You can expect a warm, compassionate approach to therapy with me.

I work with LGBTQ+ and polyamorous folks. Our identities are a critical component of how we see ourselves and relate to others, and I aim to provide community-focused care. Finding a sense of who you are is never an easy process, but I know many of us have experienced trauma, relationship challenges, and discrimination that make working towards self-actualization even more challenging. The stories we tell about ourselves, inside and outside the context of our personal identities, have power over how we understand our experiences, relationships, and emotions. What might it be like to tell your story in a new way?

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma chronic illness, pain or insomnia I would like to help. Sometimes the mind and the body are trying to telling us that something in our lives is out of alignment. By bridgeing the gap between “doing” (changing habits/behaviors) and “being” (breath, mindfulness, and somatic awareness), we create a sustainable path toward wellness. Healing requires a map and a compass. My approach combines the structure of behavioral therapy—giving you the practical tools to navigate daily life—with holistic practices that honor the whole person.

I specialize in Exposure-Focused CBT (EF-CBT) and ERP for clients with OCD tendencies.
Life can be hard, but you and your family do not have to navigate it alone. In an ever-changing world, I find it increasingly important to provide collaborative care, guided by evidence-based assessments and treatments, to individuals and families who are struggling with mood concerns, developmental transitions, and interpersonal issues both within and outside of the family unit. I take an integrated and collaborative approach to care – every person is unique, and, as a result, I believe treatment should always be tailored to your unique needs and circumstances.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
