I am currently accepting new clients, for both in-person and telehealth sessions. People often hold their pain inside, perhaps fearing they will burden others or not get the support they need. I can help by providing a space in which you can express yourself freely. In my experience, opening up emotionally to access the core of pain is where lasting, transformative change takes place. Thus, I am committed to providing an environment in which you feel free to express your feelings, no matter how difficult, in order to lead a fuller, richer life.

Life is a journey that occasionally can become difficult, and even painful. Our emotions can be overwhelming, disconnected, or confusing. Our relationships can become challenging and unfulfilling. We can discover we aren't the person we ultimately hope to be. I desire to help people make sense of their struggles and for them to know they aren't alone in the challenges and suffering life brings. Through sincere interest, deep listening, and a devoted presence, my hope is that therapy can be a place to make peace with the past, find renewed joy and richness in the present, and know hope and healing for the future to come.

Accepting New Clients- Life. It can be wonderful and it can be frustrating, discouraging, sometimes devastating. When things aren't going well, we need help. Maybe it is the stress of work or family. It could be deep discouragement about... life. Maybe there's a loss. Marriage limping along, kids seem distant. Sometimes life feels hopeless. I love helping people when life is difficult. I have hope and can usually see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've seen dark days in my life. We'll work together, build a plan and carry it out to find a solution to a better life. There is a way out. Sometimes you just need a guide.

My perspective is that we all can experience more joy and fulfillment in our personal and interpersonal relationships. Together we can gain insight and focus, take on new directions, achieve and find greater life satisfaction. I facilitate this process through emotional, experiential, spiritual, and educational support, where together people learn to better meet situational stressors, such as loss, financial struggles, life transitions, and habitual patterns. People begin to see their lives holistically and know their personal power. Together, we work to fully realize the empowerment, enhancement and enchantment that are the true nature of our being.

I'll help you find grounded, positive approaches to shift your situation, whether you're dealing with relationship frustrations or personal issues. I know what it's like to wonder if things can get better - and how to make that happen - and to think you should be able to figure it out on your own. If fights with your partner go nowhere, your sex life is disappointing (or non-existent), you suffer with anxiety or depression, or you or your partner struggle with out of control sexual behavior or drug/ alcohol use , I can help. I work with both individuals and couples to improve issues that feel overwhelming or difficult to change.

I have been in practice for 29 years. I have learned we all seek to feel valued & safe in our relationships. Sometimes when we are not feeling valued we become angry & in the process self defeating in our behaviors. My goal is to help clients gain confidence so they are better able to get their needs met within their relationships.

Struggling with life-satisfaction or relationships that leave you stressed, angry, anxious, or depressed? I intimately understand the mental and emotional gymnastics of self-guided solutions which may be an emotional rollercoaster. Are parenting responsibilities or dealing with someone's ADHD characteristics a confusing process? I have successfully worked with children with ADD/ADHD utilizing a patented neurofeedback technology which works to increase focus, reduce distracting behaviors, and susceptibility to audio and visual distractions.

Often a question asked prior to counseling is, am I thriving or simply surviving? Individuals question their life path and need help to figure out where to start exploring. We work to identify strengths, areas of growth, and both are used to help cultivate a fulfilling life experience. Clients head and hearts can be on different pages so we also work to connect them which in-turn causes less uncertainty and confusion in decision making.

I am a licensed psychologist and addiction counselor. My specialty is treating social anxiety. People with social anxiety suffer from unmanageable levels of tension in interacting with others. Everything that makes life wonderful – friendship, love relationships, academic and career success – can fail to develop because of high levels of social anxiety. Social anxiety often comes entangled with other conditions, such as developmental trauma, addiction, high-functioning autism, and depression. I focus my practice on this cluster of problems.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
