People tell me that when we meet they feel seen, heard and understood. Having the freedom to tell your story is essential to the healing and change process. I love giving people a safe place to explore what is going on in their lives, how they got to where they are so they can move into a new way of living and loving by learning to care for their own souls.

Feeling overwhelmed? Inadequate? Undone? Exhausted trying to juggle everything perfectly all of the time? Disappointed with relationships? Ready to consider what keeps you from changes you want? Wondering if life could be better if things were "tweaked" a little? You are not alone! You matter. Your story matters. Help also matters because we weren't meant to "go it alone". All of us need help along the way. And the client-therapist relationship matters: it's important that you are comfortable and find a safe place where your story---your thoughts, perspectives, hopes, and dreams---can be heard, valued, and repurposed for your next chapter.

Most of the clients I work with are navigating through anxiety, relational issues, betrayal or childhood trauma, career challenges, life transitions, divorce & separation, or emotional abuse.
Do you feel stuck, spiraling with anxiety, overwhelmed, and exhausted from holding it all together? You may be over-functioning to feel safe and in control or completely shutting down when it all feels like too much. The weight of grief, depression, trauma, strained relationships, work stress, and emotional abuse can add to the pressure, leaving you drained and unsure how to heal. You don’t have to keep pushing through alone. Together, we’ll uncover the root causes, release what’s keeping you stuck, and create healthy ways to manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelm so you can feel grounded and whole again.

I've seen people recover from seemingly dead marriages, including infidelity.
Stuck? Repeating the same non-helpful patterns? Change often begins when we feel really listened to and understood. Struggles get untangled as we tell our stories in a safe place. My approach is to give each client a safe and compassionate place to tell their story and look for new pathways together. Sometimes the hope of change seems almost impossible, but in more than a decade of private practice, I have seen so many couples and individuals restore their hope and find a healing path to a new way of living. I'd love to join you on that healing journey for a season. Come on in. I'm eager to hear your story.

Despite being a professional by day, you have no idea how your life at home started feeling so chaotic and out of control. You and your partner don’t communicate like you used to and you certainly don’t have fun together anymore. Life is consumed by kids, sports, work, and errands. You aren’t having as much sex as you used to either. It feels like you lost yourself along the way and you don’t feel heard or understood by your partner when you try to talk. Things always end up in a fight. You’re exhausted and irritable and you feel alone. Friends and family mean well but they don’t get it. Not really. You need help.

My areas of interest/training include couples & individual therapy with a focus on relational trauma & infidelity; premarital counseling, eldercare; sexuality; anxiety; depression; grief & loss; assertiveness, mindfulness, healthy self-care practices.
Taking the step to reach out for therapy, on our own or with a partner/family member, is a brave move. Relationships and life in general can offer great sources of joy as well as frustrations, and when talking with our family and friends, we may edit or limit what we say for fear of judgment, or burdening them. Reflecting and expressing ourselves freely with a neutral, non-judgmental helping professional is an excellent way to increase self awareness and insight about the challenges we encounter, even if we aren’t quite certain what to say.

For infidelity concerns, I use a three-phase approach of stabilizing (what the betrayed partner needs), understanding (what factors led to the affair), and rebuilding (co-creating a new relationship),
You try to talk about something important to you and somehow it becomes a fight. How can this person you love and built your life with feel like such a stranger sometimes? Does it have to be this hard? To others, it seems like you have the perfect life and relationship. They’d be surprised to know the truth. When one or both of your buttons are pushed, things go off the rails. You know you love each other deeply and both want a solid and healthy relationship – but when these conflicts happen, you feel so disconnected and hopeless that you question whether you’ll ever be able to truly resolve things and find a deep connection again.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
