As someone who has personally experienced the impact of mental health challenges, I understand the importance of accessible and effective mental health services. Seeking support can be a daunting step, but it is crucial in promoting healing and growth. As a mental health service provider, I am committed to creating a safe and non-judgmental space that fosters trust, respect, and growth. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health, which considers the interconnection between one's emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

I work with high-performing adults including healthcare professionals, academic faculty, leaders, and those in demanding roles who are navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, or persistent patterns that no longer respond to effort alone. Many of my clients are used to functioning at a high level, yet find themselves feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Therapy becomes a space to step out of constant output and into a more sustainable, aligned way of living and working.

I have done specialized trainings on religious trauma, and in evaluation and letter writing in support of those pursuing gender affirming surgical procedures.
My expertise is in supporting folks of all identities in navigating religious trauma, spiritual abuse, deconstruction, and other high control group experiences (religious/non-religious) with specialization at the intersection of LGBTQIA+ identity. I love supporting folks of all genders/orientations in exploring gender, sexuality, and identity. There is always more to learn about ourselves, who we are in the world, what our needs are for ourselves, our relationships, and what brings us joy! I love working with other therapists, those new to therapy, or who have been in therapy a long time and have not gotten what they need from it.

Society has always told you to “be yourself…but not like that.” After years of wondering why things feel harder for you, you discovered that you are autistic. This realization should bring relief. Instead, it’s overwhelming. What does this mean for your relationships, your sense of self, and your future? Masking has been your survival tool, but it’s exhausting. The more you try to fit into the world’s expectations, the more drained and disconnected you feel. You want to live as your authentic self, but where do you even begin?

I currently work with individuals, partners, and families. My area of passion and expertise is gender and sexuality. I also view therapy and self-care as an act of resistance and believe it can help individuals with marginalized identities cope with minority stress and systemic oppression. I am currently seeing clients virtually if you live in MN. I work with almost all mental health diagnoses including anxiety, depression, panic disorders, PTSD/CPTSD, bipolar, personality disorders, DID, and schizophrenia/delusional disorders. I also have specialized experience in substance use and eating disorders.

We get to know the whole person. Instead of seeing problems to fix, we see people in need of remembering they are already whole. Whether you are caught in cycles that leave you exhausted, want better relationships but find them splintering, and/or you find yourself shutting down or shutting off – you don’t have to suffer in silence. Nor do you have to suffer alone. Our identities often intersect with our struggles and our strengths. We'll meet you where you're at, and help you get where you're going. No matter where you are on your journey of becoming – together healing is possible.

The best indicator of healing in therapy is the quality of the working relationship. I live by these words by offering a safe space for clients to unmask and encourage their needs to be known. Often people are sharing their most vulnerable moments in the four walls of my office and I see it as my duty to honor their experiences with curiosity and gentleness. As a therapist I’m not shy about letting patients know I have personal experience with mental health, addiction, and queer/ trans identity. Clients will likely notice the humor, creativity, and honesty I bring to sessions.

You are not looking for vague support. You want something to actually change. I work with couples and adults whose lives are being shaped by recurring conflict, burnout, ADHD-related strain, emotional overload, betrayal, shutdown, or the slow erosion that happens when stress starts running your life. Maybe you keep having the same fight. Maybe everything looks functional from the outside, but inside the relationship there is distance, resentment, or exhaustion. I am especially helpful for high-stress couples, adults with ADHD or executive functioning strain, and people whose burnout is showing up.

I view life as story and the process of therapy as understanding and rewriting our stories. We all possess what we need to break patterns that are no longer serving us and sometimes we need a little help along the way. It can be difficult to create our own unique stories in a world that is constantly telling us who we should or shouldn’t be. My goal is to help you discover what is and is not working for you in your current story and support the cultivation of new possibilities alongside you to help you live as your most wild, healed, and authentic self. I take a gentle, compassionate, and collaborative approach to therapy.

I work with LGBTQ+ and polyamorous folks. Our identities are a critical component of how we see ourselves and relate to others, and I aim to provide community-focused care. Finding a sense of who you are is never an easy process, but I know many of us have experienced trauma, relationship challenges, and discrimination that make working towards self-actualization even more challenging. The stories we tell about ourselves, inside and outside the context of our personal identities, have power over how we understand our experiences, relationships, and emotions. What might it be like to tell your story in a new way?

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
