I came into the therapy profession as a second career. I hold a PhD in musicology and spent my earlier years working as a musician and music teacher/professor. I find that many of the same skills I used in music/teaching also apply to therapy. Each individual's goals and path toward healing and growing are unique, and I see my job as being a guide on that path. I believe clients already have the answers inside, and our work together is to uncover the truth that lives within. I lean heavily on understanding family systems and historical patterns that shaped who we are as we work together to decide who we can become.

I believe that everyone has inherent strengths that can be illuminated through therapy. My approach is centered on exploring your authenticity, providing space where you can share thoughts and feelings without fear or criticism, and strengthening your understanding of yourself in connection to your community. I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals, looking at cultural/systemic barriers when discussing factors of stress. Folks who tend to find their way into my office are looking to address concerns around their identity, anxiety, depression, life transitions, or a wide spectrum of traumatic experiences.

Whether working with children, adolescents, or adults, I love working alongside my clients to help them discover how to harness their strengths to guide them in meeting their goals.
My main goal as a counselor is to help my clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are intertwined. Sometimes we need to challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors and access a full range of emotions that produces change and creates a healthier outcome. We’ll work together to explore where beliefs originated and work to challenge them.

You work hard and you are normally a positive and proactive person. But lately something is wrong and you find yourself feeling sad, unmotivated, and discouraged. You notice you are more irritable, you don't sleep well, and seem to be stuck in rut. You're marriage or other relationships are not what they used to be and you're job is not fulfilling you anymore. The good news is there are proven strategies to help you feel better and get back to functioning at your best. My approach to therapy and coaching is grounded in Positive Psychology.

I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational struggles. Many come feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, longing for clarity and change aligned with their values. With a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and seminary training, I offer Christian counseling when desired—grounded in grace, relational depth, and the belief that healing happens through faith, insight, and intentional care. Therapy is a space to be seen, known, and supported.

I help adults heal from the impact of past relationships—whether that means childhood trauma, betrayal, or the lingering effects of disconnection. My clients often come to me feeling stuck in patterns of anxiety, depression, or difficulty maintaining close relationships, even when they deeply want change. My approach begins with understanding the nervous system and how past experiences can keep it on high alert. Using tools like Brainspotting, neurofeedback, and emotional regulation skills, we work to calm the body and build a stronger foundation for healing.

You can make the change you want. And I can help. I can assist you in transforming negative and destructive thoughts and behavior into more helpful and compassionate responses. I start with assessing your particular patterns that are self-defeating to what you would like to change in your life. Then I design a program to help you change these behaviors and cope with your existing situation. This mindfulness-based therapy emphasizes working together to help you with depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, and chronic or emotional pain; resolve relationship issues; or recover from trauma and grief.

Facing hardships is something we all have in common. How each of us experience those hardships varies based on who we are, where we come from, what expectations we may have had, and what information we had at the time. Sometimes the hardship was not feeling safe growing up, for example not feeling like you could be yourself or being bullied. A hardship could also be a medical diagnosis, a car accident, being the victim or witness to a crime, a phobia, losing a loved one...and the list goes on. If you are ready to face what hardships you have experienced and how it’s impacted you, I would be honored to help you in this journey.

I'm a Licensed Graduate Social Worker who brings a blend of warmth and directness into the therapy space. My approach is grounded in a deep respect for the complexity of being human. I value creating a space where all parts of someone—messy, vulnerable, and everything in between—are welcome and worthy of care. I work with children (ages 6+) and individuals across the lifespan, supporting clients through trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My work draws from somatic-based practices and integrates polyvagal theory, nervous system regulation, play therapy techniques, and mindfulness.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade as a school counselor, working with teens facing mental health challenges.
Parenting can be one of the most rewarding and exhausting things you’ll ever do. Whether you’re going through the ups and downs of pregnancy, adjusting to life after birth, or trying to support a child who’s struggling, it can feel like a lot to carry on your own. I help parents, caregivers, and moms navigating pregnancy and postpartum find steadiness in the middle of all that chaos. Together, we work on building connection, calming the overwhelm, and finding practical ways to feel more grounded day to day.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
