I have the belief that all doors open and close for a reason and that if we desire to be where the creator wants us, he will put us exactly where we need to be and I believe that I'm supposed to be in a place where I help others realize this. I also have a huge passion for instilling hope into the lives of others. I've seen people lose hope and believe the lie that it is non-existent; I have a passion for helping people regain hope and grow personally and spiritually. Fuller Living has locations in Anoka, Roseville, Blaine, and Saint Louis Park.

Are you tired of therapists who say that they do relationship therapy only to have you practice basic communication skills? Are you tired of the lack of progress and want to get unstuck once and for all? I specialize in making sure that time does continue to pass by while you are feeling weighed down in the status quo. I'm straightforward and honest. My clients describe me as annoyingly neutral when they try to get me to take sides against their partners. They also describe me as willing to ask the hard questions and willing to keep people accountable. I love helping people navigate every stage of coupling or uncoupling.

I am a systems thinker who is a trauma-informed and LGBTQIA+-affirming therapist. I believe that healing is an inward process. Through the process of being curious and empathetic, one can integrate and expand a sense of self. I believe we learn about ourselves through our relationships and understand the feelings that arise as an opportunity for growth. I have explored many alternative healing and energy practices throughout my life. I draw on the interconnection of mind-body-spirit as a framework to help individuals strengthen self-awareness and gain clarity around challenging issues.

Many come to therapy knowing only that they are struggling to get things done, their relationships have become a source of stress rather than comfort, or they need help processing trauma, loss, or other painful experiences impacting their daily lives. Whatever your circumstances, I strive to help each person or family I work with achieve greater emotional, psychological, and social well-being, while also alleviating symptoms. I use the power of storytelling and understand that each person I work with has many, important stories to tell. I also value and work with each person's nervous system in the healing process.

I specialize in helping introspective adults who are struggling with anxiety challenges like people-pleasing & perfectionism, suffering from trauma from narcissistic abuse, or navigating being a highly sensitive person.
Does it feel like your inner critic has been getting its way for too long? It’s always berating you, saying: “Nothing you do is ever good enough”... “There isn’t even much going on right now, why are you so overwhelmed?”... “You knew waiting until the last second would be awful, why do you have to waste so much time making everything perfect?”... Intuitively, you know the Critic is separate from who you are, but it gets so loud and persistent sometimes that your self-esteem can’t help but take a hit. You’re constantly feeling guilty, shameful, anxious, and small, and don’t know how to feel better.

Subspecialty: narcissistic abuse treatment
It seems inevitable that at some point in everyone's life, the thread that connects us to our deepest center becomes frayed or lost. We may experience this as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, physical illness, feeling "stuck", and more. These symptoms are messengers of the soul and can lead us to that deep place where healing and transformation can occur. Our psyche also speaks to us through joy, a sense of "calling," intuitions, synchronicities, talents, etc... but often we listen best to pain. Together, we can rediscover your authentic Self and access your own wellspring of healing.

From Jenni McBride McNamara, LMFT: Have you ever thought, "My ex or spouse or partner or parent or friend is driving me crazy! I can't handle this anymore!"? Have you researched narcissism or other personality disorders? If so, you've come to the right place for help. Dealing with high-conflict personalities can be exhausting, depressing, and worrisome, but seeing a therapist with experience can make a huge difference. A therapeutic relationship with someone who understands can be the catalyst for positive, sometimes unanticipated, change. You really don't have to be stuck, endure, or suffer forever.

Has something happened recently turning your life upside down? Are you unsure what to think or feel? My desire, as a counselor, is to help clients sort through thoughts and emotions and find hope. I believe each person is significant, and at times this truth is lost. With jumbled thoughts, we can lose sight of our worth and this can lead to despair.

Depression and anxiety can impede our careers, relationships, self confidence, success and happiness. If you feel unmotivated, disappointed in self or others, envious, or unsure of yourself, there may be powerful root causes lying just outside your awareness. Often I can help, even if other attempts have failed. How do you choose a therapist? Training and experience matter. I trained at Stanford and Columbia, finished 2 postdoctoral fellowships, completed full psychoanalytic training, and have practiced for 25+ years. While therapy is never a quick fix, it can lead to greater success and happiness. Offering teletherapy nationwide.

Life hands us many experiences. Sometimes we struggle with things beyond our control. Difficult thoughts, feelings or circumstances. Therapy gets to be a space where you are supported with whatever it is. Addressing current stressors, finding new ways to cope or heal from past experiences. You may be focused on self-growth, personal identity, life transitions or building better relationships or intimacy. In therapy, you get to do those things.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?

By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?

Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?

It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
