My name is Tolana Murphy. A Deeper Knowing is my private practice. I am licensed and practice in AZ, AK, CA, HI, ID, KY, MO, MN, OH, OR, UT, WA and WY. I come from a family background where emotional needs were not supported and psychiatric concerns were not discussed outside of a confessional. I chose to work with the elderly early on, because they were such great storytellers and usually very raw in sharing emotional and physical pain. People need to know that it is safe and okay to not only talk about both types of pain, but also to be supported and provided with tools that assist them in having their needs met.

Whatever obstacles and struggles someone may be going through in life, I consider it a privilege to help them cope. I understand that the clients I see are entrusting me to give them the right resources to guide them down a new path, with a new perspective, so they can achieve their own goals. With a healthy balance of listening, guiding, and even learning, I take pride in using my own experience and resources to help people really start off on the right foot on that path.

Kathy is focusing on Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAT) and only accepting new clients interested in KAT. Her work is rooted in healing core wounds and reconnecting with the soul’s purpose. “I use tools like ketamine-assisted therapy, shamanic drumming, equine therapy, and hypnotherapy to help people heal deeply. I view symptoms as messages from trauma—we get to the root, release the pain, and create space for authentic, empowered living.” Kathy also helps individuals grow spiritually and strengthen their connection to the Earth. She believes healing is not just possible, it’s our birthright.

You might be feeling emotionally drained—like you’re holding everything together on the outside while struggling to stay grounded on the inside. Maybe you feel disconnected from yourself or your relationships, or like the coping strategies that used to work just aren’t anymore. You want to feel more present, more steady, more like yourself again—but you’re not sure how to get there on your own. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, reconnect, and begin to feel more supported in your inner world. I work with teens and adults navigating grief, loss, and life transitions, and I bring a warm, relational approach to each session.

Many of the people I work with feel like they’ve been holding everything together on the outside while quietly falling apart on the inside. They’re carrying the weight of old experiences, navigating relationship stress, or feeling overwhelmed by emotions that seem too big to manage. They often feel stuck in patterns they can’t name or disconnected from themselves and the people they care about. My approach is warm, steady, and collaborative—focused on helping you understand your patterns and reconnect with yourself.

Life is ever-changing, and sometimes, change can be difficult and uncomfortable. Life's stressors can become overwhelming and, at times, debilitating, especially as we transition from childhood to adolescence and from adolescence to young adulthood. Although I work with clients of all ages, I particularly enjoy working with adolescents and young adults. I am passionate about helping clients cope with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, severe and persistent mental illness, family issues, interpersonal relationships, and life transitions.

Hey, I’m Sydney (she/her), a queer-identified, video-game-playing, soda-loving, slightly chronically-online therapist. :) I support adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationships of all kinds, identity exploration, and past experiences that continue to feel heavy. I’m especially passionate about creating an affirming space for queer people, neurodivergent folks, and others who have been misunderstood or marginalized. My approach is affirming, socially aware, and grounded in the belief that change is always possible.

I am passionate about helping people improve the health of their relationships and be more authentically aligned with themselves. Understanding how trauma, attachment history, and systemic oppression impacts our health helps alleviate shame, increases our understanding, and heal from the inside out. I will pace with you to identify your patterns, sitting with you in the loud silences or messy emotions. I am currently pursuing completion of my Masters degree. Previously, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy at Augsburg University, practicing in hospice settings with interests in using music for ketamine therapy.

I have a special interest but not limited to women's issues, PTSD and trauma, and healthy relationships.
The foundation of growth begins within the relationship between individual and therapist. The desire to feel seen, heard, and understood is universal and is an essential part of our overall well-being. I celebrate the courage of individuals who take steps into healing by engaging in the therapeutic process to manifest the life they desire. I am passionate about working together to ensure that you become an expert on yourself and believe in your own insight, strength, and self awareness. I believe that humor and laughter bring out our authentic selves and utilize this philosophy in my work.

People who see me for individual therapy are usually facing turmoil either due to current stressors or past issues that keep surfacing and prevent them from moving forward in their lives. Often, people tell me that they feel "stuck" and need direction/guidance. By working with me they identify their inner strengths and capabilities; they feel confident in themselves to take on challenges that come their way. In therapy we identify things that should change because what clients are doing currently is not helping. I problem solve and discuss ways to make their present meaningful. My strength based approach resonates with clients.

Life can be tough - and we are not meant to go through life alone! Many of the individuals that I work with feel like they have gotten to a place where they feel overwhelmed and need a space to process this stress with someone other than friends or partner. These folks typically include students (from undergraduates to the doctoral level), parents of young children, and individuals in high-stress jobs (educators, healthcare professionals), and people who are exploring their own identity. I enjoy working with people 18+ in an individual setting to help reconnect with their most authentic selves.

As a mother and first-generation immigrant, my lived experience has informed my clinical practice. I enjoy helping others navigate stressful life changes. I provide clients with Adrelian psychotherapy and trauma-informed care, including AF-EMDR. While all clients are welcome, I have focused on helping mothers navigate the challenges of parenting, pregnancy, post-partum concerns, difficulties with fertility, and divorce; as well as First Generation immigrants navigate the acculturation process. Recently, I have branched out, providing services for neurodiverse and twice-gifted clients.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
