I have experience helping adults, particularly those navigating trauma, grief, and LGBTQIA journeys.
We’re living through an overwhelming amount of unprecedented stress, and it’s taking a real toll on our nervous systems. Fear, anxiety, grief, anger, and exhaustion have become baseline states. Not because you’re doing something wrong, but because you’re human. On top of that, you are likely already carrying personal experiences of loss, trauma, identity shifts, or navigating major life transitions. If life feels heavy or hard to make sense of right now, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Feeling disconnected from your sense of self can be painful, isolating, and hard to name. You may be navigating identity confusion, sexual shame, relationship stress, or the lasting impact of trauma. These experiences often arise from systemic oppression, sex-negative messaging, or attachment wounds. I specialize in supporting individuals and relationships (of all styles) who want to reclaim authenticity, deepen connection, and live with more ease and self-trust.

As a queer woman with a casual relationship to my assigned gender, I want to support others in the LGBTQIA+ community as best I can.
I incorporate creativity-based work (drawing, writing, painting, collage, tarot) into my therapy practice because I believe it allows for multiple levels of expression and understanding.

Life can sometimes feel lost in the woods, surrounded by uncertainty, confusion, and the weight of not knowing how to turn. Every direction might seem like it leads to nowhere, and it's easy to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or isolated. When you’re deep in the forest, it’s hard to see the bigger picture. The paths in life can feel tangled or overgrown, making it hard to know where to start.

As we have all quickly learned, to partake in the full human experience means to experience suffering. Whether it be grief, excessive guilt, or a painful past, we all have pain that is worthy of being listened to. I believe our struggles are only exacerbated when we resist and don't listen to what needs to be expressed.

Queer, kinky, or non-monogamous (open, poly, ENM, etc) and want to work with a counselor that is open and comfortable talking these identities?
My speciality is working with individuals and partners that might be considered "untraditional" with being LGBTQIA+, open, poly, and/or ethically non-monogamous. Society has created it's own rules and you have decided that your relationship deserves to be defined as you and your partner(s) see fit. I'll work with you on that exploration from your POV.

I have a very direct yet gentle approach to getting to know who you are and how best to help you break through barriers and other debilitating problems you may be facing. Sometimes, these problems may be a result of lifelong issues; other times, it may be a result of a temporary change in your life such as divorce, loss, or a recent trauma. I work with you to discover new approaches and solutions for the task at hand. I am not traditional, sometimes mouthy, and a bit wacky at times, but I will walk with you through the process until you can walk alone. My heart does get involved at times because being human is all I know.

Our bodies hold the stories of our lives—grief, anxiety, anger, fear, and frustration don’t just live in our thoughts; they take root in our muscles, breath, and nervous system. As a somatic therapist, I will help you reconnect with your body as a source of wisdom, resilience, and healing. In addition to the benefit of therapeutic talking and listening, we will use body-based approaches and mindfulness practices to metabolize difficult emotions, shift patterns, and cultivate greater self-awareness and presence.

I specialize in working transgender and non-binary youth and their families on matters related to gender identity.
My approach to therapy is based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea in ACT is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts and feelings (e.g., anxiety & depression), I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a meaningful and fulfilling life based on what’s important to you. We will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns–whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, body image, grief/loss, job or academic stress, or gender & sexuality.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.
Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.
How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.
Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
