I am trained in EFT for couples, which is focused on identifying underlying patterns of conflict in order to find new ways of relating and connecting. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help couples figure out what is keeping their relationship stuck. I work collaboratively with clients to understand the underlying patterns that are causing disruption or discord in their lives and relationships so they can experience lasting change.

My joy comes from working with individuals at various stages and challenges of life; childhood, teens, college, and adulthood. At AHA Mental Health, we work to understand you and using our skills to help people with a wide range of needs. We work with kids, teens, adults, couples and families and know the stress of daily life. We offer evening and weekend sessions, both in office and online to make therapy more accessible. The clients I serve are often at a crossroads in their life story and unsure of how to close one chapter and begin anew. Clients I enjoy working with recognize that counseling continues outside of the session in self reflection, exploring behavior change, and shifting how we think and relate to ourselves. I have been personally affected by a high risk pregnancy, a traumatic birth and a NICU stay. That is what has led me to this work. For the past thirteen years, my work has been with perinatal mental health; specifically working with women with high risk pregnancies due to a congenital anomaly identified in their baby during pregnancy. I am here to help anyone that is struggling with feelings of angst and unrest about those unexpected challenges that are thrown your way. I have worked a great deal with perinatal and infant loss as well. I have a growing passion for helping women, specifically focusing on maternal mental health.

My clinical experience in the St. Louis area ranges from working with adults in inpatient treatment centers for mental health and substance abuse to non-profit community case management and trauma therapy. Hello! My name is Liza, and I provide trauma sensitive therapy for anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, and chronic health/pain issues. I am certified in MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) from UMASS Medical School and also have received a post-graduate trauma therapy certification from Bessel van der Kolk at the Trauma Center in Boston. I am a 500 hour RYT (registered yoga teacher) with a practice focus on combining cognitive-based therapies with body-based, meditative practices in order to guide clients on how to better cope with life's challenges and feel safe, secure.... "at home" in their bodies.
