Whether I am with a teen, adult, couple or family, I strive to earn my clients' trust with honesty, warmth and humor; a secure and close therapeutic relationship allows for the most healing and progress. A lot of psychological distress occurs when people feel cut off from or ashamed of some of their feelings. I help clients access and feel compassion about previously disavowed feelings and parts of themselves, allowing for better self-care and self-regulation, and greater closeness with loved ones.
I teach parents about attachment, communication, and positive behavioral support to help them raise kids who are loving, resilient and responsible . With Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I help couples move from distressed to loving and connected. I treat trauma, anxiety, OCD, and depression by blending techniques from Internal Family Systems and CBT.
My husband and I raised two exuberant, loving sons with different needs: one has disabilities, and the other is a gifted college graduate who came out as gay four years ago. I am passionate about supporting families coping with disability, and supporting the LGBT community. My father's legacy as a Holocaust survivor underlies my devotion to healing trauma.
