As a Native American male, I bring the influences of my culture to my practice.
It's our reality that human beings struggle at times along the road of life. I have had the opportunity to work with individuals, couples and families get over and through these life obstacles. I have been honored and amazed to witness people conquer fears, addictions and harmful experiences that have left them tired and gasping on that road, and once again pick themselves up and journey onwards.

Erica is a therapist's therapist. I work with the elements of nature to reveal the sources of discomfort, disharmony, and dis-ease that are often the source of pain, suffering, and trauma within a person, family, or ancestral lineage. I believe that a holistic approach is vital to true wellbeing and that healing occurs on multiple levels- emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual. In addition to clinical experience, I lived in West Africa and after returning I apprenticed with Dagara Elder, Malidoma Somé.

My work at NeuroCALM explores why people struggle to focus and function effectively. Children and adolescents in a school setting or adults in the workplace benefit from a deep investigation of how their brains work. There's wisdom in your story and experiences. I specialize in the process of Collaborative Neurocognitive Therapeutic Assessment (CNTA), identifying problems with attention, learning, and memory. The ability to pay attention is essential to learning and working. If you are easily distracted, have trouble focusing, experience poor memory, or struggle to learn new things, you may benefit from CNTA.

I am honored to work with individuals, couples and families who experience conflict and disconnection. With couples and families this may look like: infidelity, lack of intimacy, sexual concerns, parenting challenges, broken trust, lack of communication, difficult transitions and not feeling validated. You will have a safe place to share your reality, while being held accountable. Let's get you seen and heard by one another!

I believe that people need a therapist who has the ability to understand their experience. Once a person has the experience of being understood, a foundation is established to work through more vulnerable and difficult material. It is this proces of establishing a safe and understanding experience and working through of material that allows the possibility of change and the realization of one's true self and potentials.

I help people find their voice and true selves, whose lives have been impacted by trauma and various forms of abuse in their childhood. By engaging in deep meaningful conversation and exploring with art materials in sessions, we can choose to move from survival and reactions to owning and living our lives fully. Much of traumatic experiences reside in the non-verbal part of the brain. The use of creative art therapy allows the individual to express feelings in a visual and sensory way, allowing for a better understanding of the feeling which allows us to find our own buried truths.

Nicole is a firm believer that trauma and addiction go hand and hand. "It too effects our bodies. A lot of times clients are unaware of that early in their recovery, and they have been using substances to cope for years. I am driven to teach my clients about the mind body connection by the teaching and exploring of somatics, negative thoughts, unconventional coping skills, i.e., such as breathworks, and by exploring safety and its meaning within themselves. Seeing other people's light shine again and finding themselves is the fuel to why I do this healing work."

I work with adults throughout their entire lifespan, ranging from young adults to older adults. I have an informal and energetic approach to therapy, which encourages active collaboration in both treatment planning and therapeutic execution. I like to think of myself as a guide, providing you with new skill as well as a responsive source of objective feedback on how these skills are impacting your overall functioning. I'm just as human as you are and expect to engage in a collaborative process where you find yourself able to open up and give me feedback just as easily as I share feedback and skills with you.

Meet Claudia, a sassy boss babe who survives off of memes, froyo, and swimming. She will be straight up with you (no bullshit), but will be gentle about it. She likes using CBT because there is no judgement (thoughts are not good or bad; they are just thoughts). She grew up in the church and has a passion for helping people resolve religious trauma, process purity culture issues, and find their sexual identity. It absolutely makes her day when she gets to help an LGBTQ client find peace and live their truth. She also likes working with new parents who have had traumatic births or postpartum anxiety/OCD.

How can I find a therapist in Minnesota?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
