I also offer CBT with a Christian perspective
You want a healthy, fun relationship, with a sense of safety and security, with healthy boundaries, connection, and where you can be yourself. Your emotional health may stand in the way of creating a healthy relationship with a healthy person. Your past, with trauma and toxic relationships, and your present anxiety with the negative thoughts swirling in your mind keep you from engaging in relationships the way you would like to, keep you second guessing and never feeling stable in relationships, and keep you falling into the same relationship patterns and self sabotage

Christian counseling for men and married couples.
I take time to do a thorough assessment. A good assessment allows us to identify and work on the right issues, which maximizes the use of our time and your resources and also contributes to better outcomes. I incorporate a variety of therapy techniques, including CBT, ACT, IFS, DBT, and the Gottmann Method for couples.

I am a Christian therapist, and I work with individuals, couples, and families.
I provide EMDR therapy, and have seen much success in decreasing and eliminating trauma symptoms with this modality. I often use cognitive behavioral techniques, where I help clients identify and change negative core beliefs. I also use an attachment lens, where I help clients examine how childhood wounds are driving adult relationship difficulties.

I come from a Christian framework.
I am certified in anxiety, depression, and trauma (EMDR). I am also a relationship expert with a PhD in marriage and family therapy and a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-S, LICSW). I have over 20 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, groups, and families. I'm the author of the relationship survival book - “Hate My Marriage”. Many of my clients choose alternative methods for dealing with anxiety and depression instead of prescription medication. I am also a certified herbalist and a practitioner of yoga. I'm not just EMDR "trained", but also certified with advanced hours in trauma.

I have over 20 years experience in a variety of settings and specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and Christian counseling.
Trauma leaves us feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from our true selves. You may feel like no one understands you; isolated from friends and family because they aren’t experiencing the same thing, or cut off from your faith because this feels so hard. You might not even remember a time when you didn’t feel this way, but you are absolutely certain it’s time for a change. You’re ready to step out of the shadow of feeling anxious and overwhelmed and back into the light, out from under the weight of your anxiety and depression. Most of all, you’re ready to find a renewed sense of purpose and meaning in your life.

As a Christian, I incorporate Biblical principles in sessions upon request.
I think suffering in this world is unavoidable and that we're all doing the best we can. I also believe we can do better when we know better and when we dare to be honest about our struggles, fears, and wounds. You don't have to do this alone. I offer a safe space where you are seen, understood and honored. That's when healing happens.

It is my passion to integrate Christian theology with psychology to help my adult individuals gain a sound mind despite the chaos around them.
I believe sustained joy is possible even in the deepest trenches of human pain and circumstance. I've supported clients who have experienced traumatic events, have been excessively reliant on someone emotionally or physically, feelings of anxiety or depressed, substance use concerns, and relationship or martial guidance. Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
