I have been a therapist since 1996, I founded Shining Through Counseling because I think everyone has a story to tell and needs support on their journey to wellness. Everyone's path looks different, and that is what makes us unique. Walking that path can be scary and hard. I am here to support and you and help you to heal, meet your goals and let your true self shine through. I do this by building a trusting relationship, and working together to address current and past issues or trauma, processing through them, building and strengthening coping skills and supports. I work with individual clients, children, couples, and families.

We identify what can change and what needs acceptance and how to create both. We compassionately offer skills/techniques to reduce anxiety/stress, improve sleep, mood, communication, and resiliently function. We identify triggers, images, thoughts, emotions, sensations, and experiences that cause difficulties and process them to create an optimally healthy mind.

I specialize in children, adolescents and their families. Conflicts within the home, school, or work place contribute to added stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviors. Problems adjusting to new family dynamics can be expressed by irritability, anger, or withdrawal. I will work with you to improve relationships between siblings, between children and parents, or between friends and colleagues. If your family is struggling with possible addictions and related issues, I have experience that may help. Sometimes we all need a little help as we navigate the journey of life. Life can be full of loss and many different transitions. With my warm style and many years of experience, I am here to help. I specialize in grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, self esteem, and self-harm. I also specialize in the oncology population with both the adult and pediatric age groups, with over 15 years of experience. Lastly, I am available to help parents with coaching in order to improve their parent child relationships families thrive.

I am passionate about psychology and aim to provide effective assistance for those struggling with mental health. I focus on humanistic, critical, and community psychology and value the importance regarding individuals personal and lived experiences with mental health. I find that the individual’s relationship with their struggles shapes their perception of the experience. I understand that it can be difficult to understand your own struggles at times and I work to assist individuals in understanding this.
