As queer women, we often have more challenges to navigate than others and sometimes we need extra support. I can provide you with that support. I work with queer women who are struggling with feelings of stress, relationships concerns, dating, anxiety, parenting, marriage, depression, & frustration. I also help people struggling with ADHD and with grief/loss. I am a doctoral level psychologist & have graduated & trained in programs accredited by the American Psychological Association.

Does your relationship cause you more pain than joy? Do you feel misheard or misunderstood in conflicts with your partner? Do you feel blamed by your partner, even when you weren't at fault? These may be signs you are in an emotionally/verbally abusive relationship. All couples have conflict, but emotionally abusive relationships wear away our sense of who we are and leave us doubting our sanity. I can help you understand what is your responsibility in the relationship, and what is not, and help you to cope if you decide to stay, or to move forward and recover if you decide to leave.

The people I work with often come to me because they are looking to gain insight into emotional patterns, address difficult dynamics, and develop more balanced relationships with themselves or others. Together we paint a picture of their life stories, work to integrate the various aspects of themselves, and move towards the life they want to be living. We take the time to explore the context and history of the problem or symptom they are experiencing in order to better address it. I work with people of all ages and backgrounds and promote authentic expression and reflection in the therapy room.

You have the skills you need to achieve your goals. Often, we aren’t conscious of what causes us stress, nor are we aware of the memories that we hold physically. Life on the planet is stressful, I know you don’t always feel like like you have the energy to face it. The fact is that you do continue to face it, that's an accomplishment. My goal is to help you figure "it "out. So often in life, we become experts at everything except ourselves. Together we will identify your goals, and then we will develop the plan to achieve them. If you would like to schedule an appointment, email me your name, birth date and your phone number.

So often, therapy is seen as a tool used to cure someone; like healing a broken leg with physical therapy. In truth, my role is to support you, and help you understand and feel comfortable as your whole self. We work together to create a safe space where healing is possible. Life is challenging, and so often the strategies we use to handle those challenges can backfire, leading us feeling stranded and confused about our next steps. This is when you reach out to me. Together, we will work towards making you feel comfortable in your own identity.

I am a believer that we do not always get to choose our experiences. Many of them are neither asked for nor deserved, and we get no choice but to deal with the fallout. All of us are simply doing the best we can with what we have, and I want to make that easier for you. My specialty is treating PTSD, I have a very wide range of experience working with individuals who have been incarcerated, victims of abuse, first responders, veterans, and others. I have experience treating other issues as well including depression, anxiety, grief, and other problematic disorders.

I provide specialty care for adults struggling with anxiety or trauma related symptoms. These challenges can show up in many different ways- from physical symptoms, intrusive thoughts or worry, relationship difficulties, sleep problems, and changes in behaviors that begin to make life smaller and smaller. We are all doing the best we can and apply many creative strategies to get away from distress. However, these strategies often begin to backfire and get in the way of the things we want the very most.

I am passionate about helping others identify and build on strengths to live authentic, meaningful lives. I believe the therapeutic relationship is collaborative process in which you can safely explore and make sense of your inner most world. It is through this understanding that we begin to recognize and process patterns that no longer serve us and make small shifts towards rewriting our own stories.

With 25 years in clinical practice, I am a firm believer in the effectiveness of psychotherapy to improve self confidence and self esteem, to develop more fulfilling relationships and to set one's life course in a positive direction for the future. I try to not only help my clients find relief from bothersome symptoms but also to help get to the root of the problem that has brought them into therapy. In this way the therapy has a deeper and longer-lasting effect as clients learn how to free themselves from problematic patterns from the past and live more fully in the present.

I offer a range of specialty services that generally fall outside the typical categories and tend to use a “whole person” approach to treatment and stabilization, though over the last 10+ years of intensive couple’s and individual work I’ve treated almost everything and welcome all issues large or small, no matter the complexity. I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy as well as Spiritual Emergence Coaching and meditation training for issues where mental health and spirituality meet. Lastly, I offer specialty testing to precisely identify problems and diagnoses, then use these to best determine what treatment will be most helpful.

I offer in person (Colorado) & virtual (California & Colorado) sessions for adults and couples. I use somatic modalities including mindfulness tracking, breath work and co-regulated touch to adults who want to break patterns, better moderate their emotions, understand complex trauma and feel more confident in relationships. I work with couples to learn conflict resolution, attunement and emotional intimacy. As much as I work with couples to solidify connection, I also work with couples to consciously break up.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Denver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
