Some of the treatment theories that I draw on include trauma informed, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment (ACT), strengths based, and mindfulness.
I work with individuals to develop tools to manage times of transition. Usually, it is from these uncomfortable times in life that tremendous growth occurs. Together we will discover strategies to manage and move beyond your discomfort with increased self-awareness. The bottom line is that this is your journey, and I am humbled to walk with you during this time of self-discovery. Ideal clients for me include adults in life transitions, relationships challenges, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

I will utilize Expressive therapies and Mindfulness.
It is important for an individual to be free from the fear that does not allow one to reach a place of understanding and self-acceptance. Whether it is struggling with a past trauma, loneliness, anxiety, anger, fear of not being accepted, feelings of being “too much” or “not enough”, I practice from a place of compassion and non-judgement. When a client expresses, they are ready for a change, I will “meet them where they are at” in the therapeutic process. I enjoy working with diverse populations, at any stage in life, including individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Waitlist for new clients
Therapy looks different for everyone as there is no single approach that works for everyone; Brainspotting, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and Strength-based are a few of the modalities I use.
Limited Availability. Emails preferred over phone calls. I specialize in a wide range of disorders and personal needs in both English and Spanish such as: depression, trauma, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, life transitions, and many more. As an Army Veteran, I relate and acknowledge many of the issues that fellow veterans and members of our military face and desire to provide the service that is much needed with the ability to "talk military" and be understood. I enjoy working with individuals who are ready for change and want to live a balanced and manageable lifestyle.

TELETHERAPY Ideally, I want to create an environment that allows my clients to find their way, learn about themselves, and grow to be leaders in their treatment. The approaches I use give clients the ability to take the initiative, evaluate and then make a plan of action. Making the decision to enter into therapy is a challenge in itself. But in the end I want to meet the client where they are at and go from there. Where applicable I use Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, play therapy, career/coaching and other modalities in practice.

I combine Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness practices with motivational interviewing and existential therapeutic techniques to help my clients tap into their inner strengths.
Substance abuse is not a problem, it's a symptom. Many of us carry a deep pain within, and work to hide it behind substance and behavioral addictions. Often what looks like selfish or harmful behavior is really just a person's best effort at dealing with the pain, frustration, and disconnection they feel every day. As a therapist, my aim is to provide the warmth, stability, and emotional space for you to safely and effectively explore what you need in order to grow into who you know you can be.

As a solution-focused clinician, I am trained and experienced in a broad spectrum evidence-based therapies, including DBT-based mindfulness and ACT approaches.
I work with career-oriented individuals to resolve relationship issues, stress at home and work, as well as help parents with challenging adolescents and children. Too much responsibility and stress at home, school or workplace often leads to strained relationships, isolation, loss of motivation or debilitating fears. I help people and families who are affected by anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavior challenges at school, defiance and anger, divorce or trauma. I've worked with children, teens and young adults with emotional disturbances, behavior problems, substance abuse, self-harm, or personality development issues, and helped couples and parents sort through relationship challenges.

Having completed fellowships in Child & Adolescent Psychodynamic Therapy, and Adult Psychodynamic Therapy, I work primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults. I work from a base of psychodynamic and interpersonal talk therapy (in the form of play with younger children) to build awareness and to work through internal distress or conflict. I augment this work by using third-wave CBT modalities, which draw on mindfulness strategies and skills, in order to use ‘achieved awareness and understanding’, to live in new, more balanced, skillful, and regulated ways.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
