My philosophy is client-centered, Mindfulness based, trauma informed, and goal oriented.
I want perspective clients to know I genuinely care about the people I work with, and have a passion for joining people on their journey to a new self. The fact that you are searching for a therapist shows you would like something to change. We can often lose perspective about situations and how we deal with them. This can also be a result of things we have buried from our past, or relationships that did not support us in the way we needed.

Let’s sit down and honor the parts of you that have been stuck in the dark for far too long. Allow me to meet you where you’re at and help unlock your story in a safe, creative, and non-judgmental space. My approach to therapy is integrative, incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and creative therapies. The experience will be customized and collaborative. Don’t feel bad for the things you need—it’s okay not to be okay.

I combine Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, somatic-based practices and supportive therapy to find the right fit.
Life can be stressful. We are constantly bombarded with news, both good and bad: requests from family and friends, work deadlines, and living with the unknown. Taking time to talk through our worries, fears, and learn more about ourselves can be endlessly rewarding. How do we learn to have boundaries? How do we learn that self-compassion does not mean selfish? How do we learn to start recognizing patterns and making positive change in our lives? How do we build connection? Therapy can help us achieve these goals while processing our fears, traumas, and doubts, as well as cheering on our accomplishments, no matter their size.

With Cognitive Behavioral, Strengths-Based, and Mindfulness approaches to therapy, we can talk through your goals, develop strategies and skills, process setbacks, and celebrate successes.
Navigating life's bumps in the road, whether big or small, can be overwhelming. I enjoy working with adults (18+) who are ready for a change but aren't sure where to start. I have experience working with adults experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety, stress, life transitions, self-esteem, and relationship issues. I also have experience working with adults who want to be the best version of themselves. I have received feedback from previous clients that having a safe space to share their inner most thoughts and feelings and to feel heard yet challenged on irrational thoughts, were key in their journey to wellbeing.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
