I am seeking patients who are particularly interested in their psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual development, not just reducing their suffering. Patients who are interested in expanding their joy, improving their awareness, increasing their risk-taking capacity, and making more thoughtful and conscious choices. I work with adults. I also teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction classes several times a year. See atlantamindfulness.com for the class schedule. In addition I have extensive training in psychedelic integration.

We are all unique, so I like to use a variety of evidence-based approaches with my clients, focusing mainly on education, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness.
Seeking balance? Feeling lost or stuck? These are common reasons for why people seek out assistance with a professional clinician. They are interested in creating a change that can help them move forward. I am a trained counselor who works with helping people struggling with life situations and issues that can slowly emerge or suddenly appear. Whether coping with strong emotions such as anxiety or depression, overriding negative self talk, overcoming a traumatic event, or experiencing frustration in relationships, together we set goals in and out of therapy to help you find your best self.

I use an attachment-based, somatic approach to healing and include mindfulness and interventions from nonviolent communication, DBT, CBT, and ACT to build stabilization, engender self awareness and growth, and enable healing from events in the past that are re-experienced in the present, helping clients earn secure attachment to find safety and trust within.
Grounded in experiential and existential orientations, I work to understand the meaning you make of life. I walk with you to help identify purpose, values, and behaviors to live more authentically and deliberately. I foster a supportive, interpersonal therapeutic relationship, and my holistic approach taps into the body's innate wisdom to promote adaptive responses and facilitate healing. By choosing to move through discomfort--a normal and healthy response to life's uncertainties--you expand opportunities for growth. My prior career in business and technology enables me to understand the unique demands of corporate professionals.

I primarily utilize a strengths-based, solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioral style of therapy that encourages clients to learn mindfulness, shift perspectives, and identify and use their strengths in order to reach their goals.
Rainer Maria Rilke's quote "The only journey is the one within" expresses my hope for my clients in their path to wellness. I have experience in working with individuals and couples seeking help with adjustment/phase of life issues, depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, relationship concerns, and low self esteem. I am passionate about being an ally of the LGBTQA+ community, and identify as an affirming and sex-positive therapist. I enjoy supporting those who are experiencing major life changes, such as going to college, grieving a loss, becoming a new parent, transitioning to their true self, or embracing retirement.

I am a frequent speaker on the benefits of mindfulness and love teaching clients accessible ways to cultivate a mindfulness practice.
I love working with clients who are facing divorce, custody, or other family law issues. As a family lawyer turned therapist, I bring a keen understanding of the legal system to my clinical work with individuals & couples. However, not all of my clients are getting divorced! I also enjoy working with couples who wish to improve their relationships as well as individuals seeking to grow. Many of my clients are lawyers or other professionals who value my ability to analyze issues strategically and understand the challenges of a demanding profession. Drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, & multicultural counseling traditions, I collaborate with clients to explore their concerns, set goals, & develop a plan for moving forward. My warm, empathic presence combined with my solution-focused approach allows me to provide non-judgmental support as clients tackle life's challenges.

Through the healing power of mindfulness, a strengths-focused approach, and positive psychology, my goal is to help my clients cultivate growth, nurture optimism, and experience peace.
I know that therapy can be intimidating, but that should not be a barrier to finding the help and support you need. A strong alliance is foundational for therapeutic success, and I accomplish this by offering a non-judgmental, safe space where that intimidation is stripped away. I empathize with those who have been thrown off course due to the pitfalls of life. I desire to journey with those individuals and ultimately lead them toward hope and healing. I am passionate about giving others a voice and the courage to tell their story.

I do not believe that therapy is “one size fits all” so I utilize different treatment approaches to assist clients in their healing journey, including Trauma Focused CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness.
I am passionate about working with teens/young adults (16+) as they navigate anxiety, depression, complex trauma, life transitions, and building healthy relationships. With a genuine interest in understanding their perspectives and fostering healthy communication, my goal is to empower teens/young adults to overcome obstacles, build self-esteem, and thrive emotionally and mentally during this crucial stage of their lives. As a therapist, I also enjoy working alongside perinatal and postpartum individuals with concerns including anxiety and depression, grief/loss, parenting, and adjusting to motherhood.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focus CBT, DBT-Mindfulness, Solution-Focus Brief Therapy, and Spiritual Counseling.
As a mental health therapist, I believe in empowering clients to become aware of their own healthy/unhealthy thinking and behavior so, in return, they can implement positive lifestyle changes. Collaboration between the client and myself is used to guide the client in redefining their own way of life. Clients should know that this sometimes can be a short or lengthy process but I am willing to walk all the way with them as they develop their new healthy self. Clients should know that they are never alone in this new journey...

I often use other modalities such as DBT, IFS, and mindfulness.
I believe life is about balance. Balancing our relationships, health, work, and hobbies. But sometimes, life can throw us off due to our experiences, relationships, and emotions. Together, we will take a holistic view of your life, what's working well, and where you might need support to help you regain equilibrium. Honoring yourself, your past experiences, and your needs can lead to the healing and growth you are looking for.

Through a variety of methods using mindfulness, virtues, experiential, humanistic therapy, and solution focuses to help to develop solutions for problems in life.
Do you feel stuck in life? Do you feel unhealthy and stressed out? My therapy focuses on positive psychology and how to help people find a healthy lifestyle. Using this model, I have developed a type of therapy that focuses on helping people achieve health in mind, body and soul. This work includes finding out what problems exist in a persons life, and working to solve the problems we all face in life (loss/grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and stress). My hope is that by finding solutions and working out those solutions life will get better.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
