There comes a time in your life when you decide that you want something different. It may be a change in behavior, your way of thinking, or how to approach situations or others. I am here to be your impetus for change. Every human being has the power for greatness if they choose to embrace it. My goal is to help you evoke a lighter heart, perhaps fix what's broken, tackle what weighs you down, gain a different perspective, and unlock the greatest version of yourself.

Additionally, I believe in a body, mind, spirit approach, and can incorporate mindfulness and energy work into sessions.
At times, it can be difficult to feel joy or appreciate life due to mental health challenges that appear during times of transition. Asking for help can be intimidating. I offer compassionate, non-judgmental, and empowering therapy solutions, helping you develop your strengths and find balance in your life. For over fifteen years, I have worked with couples, adults, young adults, children, and families who are struggling with anxiety, anger, addictions, and relationship issues.

Whether we decide to use COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT), DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT), mindfulness skills, role play or RAPID TRANSFORMATIONAL THERAPY (RTT), or any combination of the above, your life will be transformed.
For the past 30 years, my personal quest has been to find the most transformative tools, skills and techniques to create a healthy, joyful and abundant life. Understanding is power. Once you grasp that your personal beliefs create your emotions, and that those emotions cause your behaviors, you’re then in a position to transform your life. Similar to updating a computer's old operating system to gain maximum function, we need to update our old ways of thinking as well. Outdated and negative beliefs can be reframed and replaced with healthy and positive ones.

I love my work and feel incredibly fortunate to have formed so many meaningful therapeutic relationships. It is a privilege to travel with clients as they emerge from suffering and utilize the strengths they have found and the skills they have learned to achieve balance and ultimately, their life goals. The relationship between therapist and client is a real, equalitarian relationship built on honesty, respect, and collaboration. As we get to know each other, you will find that I am warm, genuine, non-judgmental, flexible, direct, and irreverent. I have a good sense of humor and believe that laughter is an important part of healing.

By using the evidenced based model, Internal Family Systems, (IFS) you will feel supported on your journey toward Self awareness, with a new understanding that there is always a “why” behind your feelings and reactions. You will gain clarity about the multiplicity that is uniquely you; not just talk about it like traditional talk therapies. Healing will lead to living a joyful, and intentional life. Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
