I value the relationship between the mind and body and primarily involve elements of IFS, inner child work, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and nervous system regulation.
I believe everyone deserves a warm, safe space to process life's experiences, so that is what I strive to provide! I specialize in supporting young adults, adults, and college students to compassionately navigate their inner world- working through things like anxiety, depression, trauma, life stressors/transitions, self worth, identity, and relationships. I work collaboratively to support my clients in connecting to their emotions, understanding how experiences have shaped patterns of thinking and behaving, healing wounds of the past, finding effective coping strategies, and promoting self-acceptance to create meaningful change.

I bring a relational and person-centered style to therapy, using a holistic approach that integrates mindfulness, neurobiology, and attachment with trauma-focused and somatic therapies.
Trauma and stress shape the way we relate to ourselves, others, and the world, creating patterns of protection that hold us back from living the lives we long for. I see therapy as a collaborative exploration that nurtures connection, invites curiosity, and ultimately leads to inner and outer harmony. I believe the foundation of any healing process is a safe and authentic relationship where all parts of you feel seen and heard. This dynamic fosters the shared connection needed to tune in to difficult emotions and sensations at the right pace for your system and reshape the way you connect with yourself, others, and the world.

I utilize trauma-informed practices and gravitate towards attachment-based, values, and mindfulness practices.
Sometimes our inner world seems chaotic and stressful. Sometimes we feel like we are going through life surrounded by a fog and can’t see a way out. Sometimes we experience something so significant that our life is turned upside down and we have a hard time coping. Regardless of what you are experiencing right now, it does not reflect anything about your worth and you do not have to navigate it alone. My goal as a therapist is to provide opportunities for you to work through the challenges of life while reconnecting with your authentic self and embracing your inner-knowing.

Talk therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused practices are the best ways that I have found to engage with people and affect positive change.
My practice and process are centered around the idea that everyone has struggles, and no one's struggles are greater than anyone else's. I often work with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, family dynamics, and PTSD. Thank you for considering me as a therapist with whom you may want to work. Starting therapy can be scary, but I have seen the benefits of it for countless people. Be proud of yourself for seeking guidance in a difficult time.

Along with traditional talk therapy I use cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic work, mindfulness, and other creative approaches depending on your needs and what feels helpful to you.
Sometimes we face challenges that seem insurmountable, leaving us feeling stuck and hopeless. Therapy can provide the support necessary to overcome hardship and help us take steps toward happiness and fulfillment. As your therapist, I believe that you have the resiliency required to overcome the toughest challenges. No one should have to trudge alone through trying times. I look forward to walking with you on your journey!

To facilitate that opening, I draw from a variety of disciplines: Jungian, Gestalt, psychodynamic, IFS, and mindfulness practices.
“Taking refuge” is a phrase in Buddhism that invites a world-weary self to find relief. From the confusion of life’s dramas and the pull to get swept up in them. Taking refuge requires building trustworthiness through a softening that happens over time in relationship. That is one reason psychotherapy is effective: The trustworthiness built by therapist and client allows for a depth of self to be known and expressed. Such encounters in turn build trustworthiness within oneself, for as our capacities enlarge, we enlarge. In finding solace within, we learn to live less fearfully, participate in relationship with authority and ease.

I've been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. I've worked with a wide range of issues including but not limited to addictions, anxiety, depression, bi-polar, stress and anger management, men's issues, PTSD, work/life transitions, and couples/relationship issues. I work best with clients who feel stuck, have tried some things on their own that just haven't worked, and need that extra bit of guidance to get to where they want to be, personally and professionally.

I believe one of the most courageous things a person can do is be vulnerable enough to ask for help, and I find the collaboration in the therapeutic relationship between a therapist and client to be one of the most inspiring processes there is. Clients come to therapy for a variety of reasons: the desire to change patterns (internal or behavioral), understand themselves more fully, or to process experiences, to name a few. I appreciate clients who are able to come to the therapeutic space from an open place, even when such an experience is laced with uncertainty or some fear. (My availability is limited to daytime hours.)

My therapeutic style is rooted in my belief of our human potential to reflect, relate, learn, and grow. I help adolescents and adults with self discovery through life transitions. Life transitions are common and often support is helpful; whether that is a new relationship, big move, adolescence to adulthood, school or career path, parenthood, or if you are experiencing new, unexpected emotions in your life. I understand that these moments can be both exhilarating and daunting, and I am committed to providing the necessary tools and support to navigate them confidently.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
