As an an Iraq war veteran with 17 years of military experience I know the challenges that service members, their families, and trauma survivors face on a personal level. I am here to let you know that you will not just survive, but you will overcome your circumstances. I specialize in therapy with veterans, law enforcement, soldiers with PTSD, families, the severely mentally ill, the LGBT community, survivors of physical and sexual abuse, and victims of human trafficking. My goals when working with clients are to attack faulty thinking, improve coping skills, build resilience, and encourage adaptation to life challenges.

Dorothy Is a licensed professional counselor who holds a certificate in clinical mental health counseling from Lamar University, and MEd. In school counseling from Lamar University and a bachelor of science degree in elementary interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston.

My target population include adolescents, couples, siblings and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, transitional issues,relationship issues, separation, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I have provided support to military families since 2010.

As an autistic person, my treatment is embedded in a philosophy of affirming care that respects neurodiversity and differences. I have an affinity for providing services to LGBTQ+ teens. I work collaboratively to figure out each individual's goals and treatment needs. My clients have often felt misunderstood, unseen, marginalized, or have struggled with substance abuse. In our work together, I seek to provide clients with an experience of repair: if I don't understand, I will clarify and try harder. If I mess up, I will apologize. And I will always do my best to see the person sitting in front of me.
