Life – with all its beauty – is filled with adversity. Struggles may be opportunities for growth and development. Without hardship our capacity to reach our full potential is limited. I encourage clients to look inward, recognize their emotions, and explore their current thought and behavior patterns. My goal is to help clients clarify their values, shift their thinking in a self-compassionate way, and practice new behaviors. My approach includes a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing techniques, an experiential creative process (e.g., art, play, sand play), and when appropriate, an existential approach.
Clients can expect to be met with compassion, receive treatment that is strength based, and find themselves in a safe environment to explore positive changes and gain insight into personal experiences.
I find that sitting with someone who is willing to be vulnerable to be an honor. I work to demonstrate curiosity and strive to be present in the moment during each contact with my clients. I invite continued conversations about how the counseling process is going and what is and is not working for each individual.
