I treat individuals, couples and families with the perspective of the whole system. Each person has learned beliefs and ideologies from their family of origin and bring those with them when they enter a new relationship. Helping uncover how those beliefs affect their lives is often key to the underpinnings of their problems and being able to decide what works for them is critical to being able to create a strong foundation in their relationships.
Working with adolescents led me to understand how traumatic events often shape their lives. Eating disorders, OCD, trust issues and Dissociative Disorders have been a large part of my practice. I have found that ADHD, is a tremendous issue for those suffering from alcohol and drug addiction and Depression.
I work closely with primary docs, psychologists and psychiatrists to determine the best treatment for my patients. I believe that an integrative form of treatment is necessary to understand the complexity of a person's struggles.
