As depression, anxiety, grief, and other mental health issues get bigger, our lives get smaller. They weigh us down, isolate us, and make even simple things seem difficult. Frustration, shame, and confusion from the constant struggle can add to the weight we are already carrying. Friends and loved ones may inadvertently make things worse by offering advice or trying to make us feel better. We put off seeking help because we feel guilty, embarrassed, or don’t want to burden people (especially when we are the "Strong" one who usually helps others). It can happen to anyone. The good news is that treatment works and therapy helps!
I’ve had the honor of helping people in a wide range of settings for more than 15 years, using evidence-based counseling approaches to overcome depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, trauma, and other issues. I especially enjoy using practical and sometimes unconventional tools to defeat painful self-critical and "catastrophic" negative thoughts.
At the heart of my approach to counseling is a deep respect for each person's unique experience, the significance of their struggles, and the resilience they can develop as they connect with the right tools, strengths and resources to transform their lives and relationships. Please contact me for powerful, compassionate tools to reclaim your life.
