I like to meet clients where they are at. I use a lot of CBT techniques, narrative therapy, psycho-education, mindfulness, client-centered, solution focused, etc. When it comes to alcoholism/addiction issues, I tend to treat this as a life or death focus. I have decades of experience with Substance Abuse Recovery, Domestic Violence, Anger Management and parenting treatments.
I am really looking for people to participate the Men's Therapy Group. This group has been available since late 2023 and many of the same men who were in the first groups are continuing to attend. You do need to be a registered client at Huron Valley Consultation Center to attend, therefore registration and intake are important.
Folks might have some challenges with trusting, or thinking they might not be a "group person." Well, many of the people who have attended my groups over the past 25-30 have said nearly the same thing. Once they hear aspects of their own story from others around the room, they tend to settle in and relate to similarities and recognize that the others can relate. The fear of group is often times involved with damaged self-esteem. Clients learn that they will be accepted and no one will laugh at them or make fun of them. I have seen so much growth in my groups that it encourages me to continue.

Men's Group Therapy
This group is offered to men who are interested in processing their painful experiences, learn more effective coping strategies and normalize their emotional experiences. This group is offered in a safe place the difficulties they have in social settings as a result of their anxieties. You must call (734) 662-6300 to enroll in the program. We have group times every Wednesday 4:30pm - 6:00pm.
