About
I am a psychologist experienced in helping children, teens and adults. My experiences in the mental health field began in 1981 and include working with the seriously mentally ill, treating traumatized children, and working with the oppressed. These experiences have taught me the importance of maintaining compassion for others even when they are in extreme states or are easily wounded. Working with different cultures has taught me to respect the world view and values of others. My background helps me to understand struggles of all types with a greater depth and sensitivity. All problems, worries and concerns are significant and deserving of a serious approach.
I help children cope with trauma, divorce, behavior problems, anxiety and depression. I treat teens suffering from anxiety, depression and the sometimes difficult task of adjusting to the adult world. I also treat adults, helping them cope with a full range of mental health challenges as well as find meaning and purpose in their lives.
My approach is thoughtful, warm, respectful and is anchored in the tradition of Jungian psychotherapy. I am trained in several treatment techniques, including EMDR. In my work with children, I use symbolic approaches such as play therapy and Sandplay. I welcome you to bring your concerns and see if my approach is right for you.
