My name is Mike Shook and I am licensed professional counselor with small practice called Mill Creek Wellness in Lancaster city. I have had the privilege of doing this work for nearly a decade and continue to be amazed by the strength and bravery of the folks who entrust their stories to me. I take it as a gift to come alongside people who are experiencing difficulties and mental health concerns, just as others have come alongside me when I have hit hard times in my journey.
My approach to counseling is collaborative, always taking into account your unique cultural identities, preferences, and values. In therapy jargon, I use an approach called narrative therapy and infuse my work with both trauma-informed care and interpersonal neurobiology. I also attempt to use humor, playfulness, and spirituality when appropriate.
To me, fit is everything. I may have the right credentials, a cool photo, and a nice looking office, but at the end of the day you need to know you can trust me, that I genuinely see and hear you, and that I will hold your story with care.
