Hello! My name is Mikayla Sova, LSCSW. I approach therapy from a person-in-environment perspective, which means I don’t see you as a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. Our mental health is shaped by relationships, family dynamics, culture, stress, trauma, and the environments we move through every day. In our work together, we look at the bigger picture - not just what’s “wrong", but what’s been happening around and within you. I believe that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach in therapy and tailor sessions to your individual needs and goals, as you are the expert in your own experience.
I have nearly four years of experience as a DBT therapist in community mental health. DBT is a strong foundation in my practice, especially for building practical skills in managing emotions, tolerating distress, and navigating relationships. I also draw from relational, trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, somatic, and strengths-based approaches.
My style is collaborative, straightforward, and supportive. I’ll meet you where you are, help you build insight and skills, and work alongside you toward changes that feel realistic and lasting. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathetic therapeutic environment.
