Life is hard! Pause for a moment and give yourself credit for taking this brave, difficult step. You're respecting your struggles AND looking for constructive ways to address them. I use a collaborative and exploratory (rather than expert) model to help you develop/access resources to navigate life's difficulties. I use approaches supported by research while recognizing the limits of evidence-based therapies which often need to be adapted, abandoned, or incorporated with other practices to meet a person's realities, needs, and strengths. I strive to create a safe supportive relationship and deeply value feedback and dialogue.
With parents of different SES, race, and religious backgrounds, intersectionality is fundamental to my work. Acknowledging and embracing differences while not losing sight of our shared humanity is very important to me and our work. I strive for openness and a desire to learn while not placing the burden of teaching on you.
Areas of emphasis: family of origin issues; attachment or intergenerational trauma; narcissistic abuse; race and/or gender related stress/trauma; perfectionism, high levels of self-criticism and shame. I also hold limited space in my practice for ADHD evaluations, immigration evaluations, and letters of support for gender affirming surgery.
