It’s no secret that nearly everyone has had a need to reach out for support or guidance at some point in life. Are you anxious, depressed, angry, exhausted by endless problems in relationships at work, school, or with family and friends? Has alcohol or other drug use affected your work or your ability to relate to family or friends? If low-self esteem is nagging you, are you ready for a positive change? If you feel uncertain about your place in life or personal goals now or in the near future, now is the time to find your strengths and your purpose.

My name is Lynne. I am an independently contracted clinical therapist for IEG operating under Flutter & Flourish Therapy Services serving states: MI, TN, AL & GA. As a therapist, I believe that when you decide to engage in therapy, you are choosing to allow yourself to reflect on how you want to take control of your life & deciding how you need/want to show up for yourself. I am here to assure you per the societal feedback, nothing is "wrong" with you. We all have things different about us and that's what makes our voices and lived experiences ours, which also means our healing and progression will look different person to person.

The ideal person to meet with me is somebody who struggles with trauma and is struggling to overcome the wounds left by the trauma. People struggling with trauma can be people struggling with symptoms from PTSD or developmental traumas. PTSD typically includes people who have experienced or witnessed deadly events or sexual trauma. People with developmental trauma include people who did not experience an organized and loving attachment with their caregivers while they were growing up. In therapy, we work together to identify interventions that meet their specific needs.

I focus on the treatment of trauma using a mind-body and mindfulness framework and work from the understanding that our life experiences are stored in the body. It’s important to pay attention not only to our thoughts and emotions, but also to the clues our body gives us. My goal is to help clients create their own sense of safety, enhance relationship to self, and to move towards a space of presence and increased well-being. I also offer consultation to clinicians hoping to deepen their understanding of parts work using a trauma-informed perspective.

It took a lot of courage for you to make it to this point. I imagine your journey has had fluctuating ups and downs, and now you’re seeking support to get through life’s challenges. Sometimes it can feel daunting to try and move forward in life when you feel stuck, whether it be due to the cards life has dealt you or even sometimes getting in your own way.

I truly care about my clients and will provide a confidential, empathic, and non-judgmental environment. My ideal client might be in distress and simply in need of relief or someone who wants to investigate themselves and grow through the process. My ideal client might not be sure if therapy will help. I would try a variety of strategies to show you that it can. I have had challenges in life and I have received help from many people along the way. I believe that we should receive help when we need it and help others when we are able to do so. I look forward to collaborating in our work together!

I work best with individuals, couples, and families ready to take the leap towards personal growth. I have the skills to assist with a wide range of areas and can handle the most challenging issues. My therapeutic approach is evidence-based, ensuring that our work together is practical and focused on healing. I provide treatment in a direct and non-judgmental manner, making the most of your time for lasting, meaningful changes. I'm also trained in EMDR, a highly effective method for treating trauma and PTSD. EMDR often requires fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy to achieve therapeutic goals.

Seeing clients in Michigan and North Carolina... Parenting can be tough; juggling work, chores, and family time. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure about who you are amid what feels like constantly changing roles. We all want to be great parents and partners while also finding joy for ourselves. Balancing work and family, without the pressure to be perfect, can feel like an impossible task. Maybe a voice inside you is constantly saying you’re a terrible parent and you desperately wish you could feel “good enough.”

"I saw the angel in the marble and chisled until I set him free." (Michelangelo). I see psychotherapy as being like this-most people have it within them to know what they need or want, but something has kept them from feeling free to live life to the fullest. Most people come to see me when they are feeling that important parts of their lives (love, work or play) feel disappointing or "stuck." The "chisling" in therapy is you and I together discovering what is holding you back and identifying so many more choices than it may feel that you have now.

Potential clients will work well with me if they are ready to better themselves and explore those conscious or unconscious thoughts and feelings that may be affecting their everyday life and behaviors. The client who is willingly to cater to their mental health and who is open to receiving the help, will gain the most out of our sessions.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Michigan?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
