I have experience treating clients with addiction issues, anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, as well as other mental health concerns.
I believe that every person who is seeking therapy has already taken the first step toward positive change. This is often the most difficult step of the healing process. My first goal is to listen well and to seek to understand you. While my training includes many therapeutic approaches informed by research, I see therapy most of all as a process that unfolds with building a genuine relationship. I seek to find strengths within each person and assist them in building upon those strengths within therapy.

I’ve walked beside clients through addiction recovery, trauma healing, and the challenges of mental health diagnoses. It is never too late to create the life you want to live.

Helping you to begin the process of healing draws from a place much deeper than textbooks or clinical degrees. The years I've spent studying counseling theories and building therapeutic tools has given me the letters behind my name; yet my truest credential is my own humanity. I know what it means to live through life's hardships, and I intimately understand the heavy weight of pain, the disorientation of trauma, and the courage it takes to navigate your way back to solid ground. But you have to be prepared to do the work to change. Because let's face it - nothing changes if nothing changes.

I’m Malanna (like Madonna, but make it therapy)! I take an unorthodox, approach to therapy where I believe mental health deserves the same sincerity, attention, and respect as physical health and wellness. I never take it lightly when someone sits in front of me and trusts me with their vulnerability. That kind of trust is a privilege to hold, and I meet it with deep respect, care, and intention. I’m big on collaboration. I believe the best work happens when your self-insight meets my clinical expertise. You already hold so much wisdom about your own life, even if stress, pain, trauma, or just life itself has made it harder to see!

At some point in our lives, we will experience emotional and psychological distress. Most people will try to avoid or go through their distress without seeking help. People choose to do this because they are not sure how therapy will help them. Setbacks, failures, and tragedies are all a part of life. Therapy helps us understand why we act and respond in ways that cause us harm, get through rough times, strengthen our family ties, bonds and build healthier relationships. Therapy helps us to identify and process feelings and emotions, so that we can grow and move forward to lead more productive and quality lives.

Depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationships, anger; do these issues sound familiar?
Habits of thinking learned in childhood, such as chronic worry or impulsive behavior, affect our lives today. Chronic depression and anxiety can upset relationships or create problems at work. Self-defeating habits can rule our lives. Greater control over our lives and confidence in our decisions are possible benefits of therapy.
