I have an extensive background and many years of experience working with children, teens, families, LGBTQIA+ folks, adults, and those who are retired. I have done work around complex trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, transitions, self-esteem, parenting issues, as well as a specialty in grief/loss, anticipatory grief, end of life, hospice and chronic medical issues.
As a therapist, I am warm, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active therapist, combining experience, education, creativity, and sense of humor with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to counseling. I prefer a more conversational style to my practice. Some of the methods I use are DBT, CBT, Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy
I believe that healing is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest caring without judgment. I believe all healing begins with transparency, open communication, and ownership. Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals and issues, I draw from a variety of methods to create a tailored approach for each individual and situation.
