Groups
DBT for Expecting and Emerging Parents
This group offers practical skills that target areas of difficulty in the perinatal and early parenting period. Parenting and pregnancy are both rewarding and emotionally challenging experiences. The unique needs of this time in a parents life include biological changes impacting mood changes, frustration tolerance, changes in interpersonal relationships, responding in an effective way to the cues of the infant/young child, as well as juggling the needs of individuals and family members. The group will also focus on improving parenting competence and the parent-child relationship. DBT modules will be covered (mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation).
