When working with a client, knowledge is essential to being motivated for change. Connecting the mind and body through education is important in understanding the whole body approach to mental health, and substance use recovery. I have been working in mental health for 2 decades in various settings and disciplines. I consider myself very genuine and affirming. I strive to meet clients where they are at regarding needs and direction of the therapeutic relationship. I believe the client is the expert on themselves and I am a facilitator in their journey of healing.
My therapeutic style is to be authentically myself with the client. I don't hold fast to a specific approach, understanding that no person is the same as the next; bit I highly endorse cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches and have seen many success stories once clients learn to rewire thoughts.
I am invested in teaching and empowering clients to remove barriers and develop strategies to cope with complex mental health conditions. You are worthy of a space be to be vulnerable.
