I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a masters degree from the University of Kansas. I work with an array of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and self-esteem issues, but what I primarily specialize in is treating trauma.
Over the more than 15 years I have spent working in the mental health field I have come to recognize that it is trauma that lies at the core of whatever is bringing the majority of people into therapy. As a trauma therapist I utilize treatment approaches that are considered “best practices” in the treatment of trauma/PTSD.
I am fully certified in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. These are both approaches that would seek to empower you to connect with your own intrinsic healing resources to help move through whatever hurt, pain you may be carrying.
