Therapy is a time to reflect on, and adjust to, life issues. It's a time to explore how your thoughts and beliefs about yourself and the world color your emotional experiences today. Some people know exactly what they need, while others need to gently explore the cause and meaning of their discomfort and emotional pain. My task is to match what I do to this need and serve as a guide along the way. I have been in practice for over 25 years assisting individuals, groups, and families with all manner of behavioral health, relationship, and life problems.
I generally begin therapy by suggesting we take a skill building approach to help you immediately improve your ability to relax, communicate more effectively, and better understand how your thinking unnecessarily colors your emotional life and outlook in a negative fashion.
My theoretical orientation is eclectic, with an emphasis on cognitive and interpersonal approaches. I also utilize EMDR in treatment. I would appreciate the opportunity to assist you in your efforts to feel better in control of your emotions and your life.
