Every individual is aware of their personal needs in life and is on a quest to get them met. Internal and external roadblocks can hinder this process and produce negative emotional and mental states of being. My job is to get to the root cause of this distress by identifying the unmet needs, the roadblocks, and the process of meeting those needs that is currently not working. We then work on removing the roadblocks and replacing the method of getting those needs met with one that works and produces harmony with all of those involved.
Dr. Henry takes traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy (which focuses on changing thoughts and feelings) a step further by using schema therapy which identifies and challenges the beliefs or schema which produce the thoughts and feelings. Change becomes more permanent and automatic as a result.
Dr. Henry believes that results from therapy should be realized from the first session and focuses his treatment in that manner. Willing participants can and will experience positive changes in their lives from the start.
