About
Making the choice to start therapy can be a courageous first step toward paving a new path of personal meaning, insight, and growth. As your therapist, I see it as my job to work collaboratively with you to establish goals for making positive life changes. I believe in establishing a working alliance composed of empathy, trust, respect, validation, and transparency. I see the therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of what makes therapy effective.
I primarily approach therapy through a psychodynamic-relational lens, which means I explore how past relationship dynamics impact thoughts and feelings regarding self and others. Through this process, I help clients facilitate insight and change maladaptive relational patterns. I also work to help clients strengthen their self-compassion and self-efficacy.
As a generalist, I work with clients on a range of concerns. My professional interests include working with depression, anxiety, relationships, cross-cultural issues, gender/sexuality, grief, trauma, and transitional concerns. As a former staff psychologist at a university counseling center, I have experience working with young adults and professionals.
