Hello, my name is Michael Patrick. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana. My approach to therapy is based on the belief that it is my responsibility to help clients feel comfortable and build trust. Life is hard and therapy is a resource that can help individuals change their lives to live a healthier more empowered lifestyle. I utilize a mix of multiple different theoretical approaches. However, I tend to utilize a lot of Cognitive Behavioral approaches and interventions. I believe that to create change, it is important to understand what is being changed.
I like my sessions to feel calm and relaxed. I enjoy helping clients work through some of their toughest moments. I also realize that this can be hard so I adjust depending on the situation and my client's needs.
I like to let my clients tell me what their goals are. If they are having trouble I will suggest goals. However, I feel like clients are coming to achieve specific goals and I want to make them feel heard. I try to identify their desired goals early and stay focused on them throughout the therapeutic process.
