We're only on Earth for a little while: too short a time to spend it indulging bad habits, ignoring our talents, suffering inadequate relationships. Psychotherapy has two main goals. First, it helps you to notice and release your fear, resentment, self-destructive sorrow -- the whole range of negative habits in thought, feeling and behavior. Second, it helps you to give your gifts to the world: your talents, your capacities, your joy. On every level, psychotherapy enhances your relationships: with family, partner, co-workers and friends, with this amazing Earth, and with your own sense of yourself as fully alive.

My work is informed by family/systems thinking, as well as by my psychodynamic training at City University of New York and my long-term practice in meditation. I am not interested in pushing some particular viewpoint, however: I want to find what makes sense for you.

I have worked for 15 years in Great Barrington, MA, seeing clients of all ages. Before that, I served as Associate Clinical Professor at Columbia University's medical school. I wrote The Stairway of Surprise: Six Steps to a Creative Life (2002) and Group Meditation (2011) both from SteinerBooks.
