A seasoned counselor working with adolescents, adults and families who has been trained to see problems in systems (not individuals) and the current mental health industry as a too-often oppressive obstacle to success. Clients are often those who strive to improve personal functionality and wellness given this messy world in which we live. Eager to aid in family systems dynamics, e.g., negotiating long-term disrupted attachments and helping families launch adult children.

Trained and practicing an eclectic form of therapy drawing from insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral, eco-systemic structural, attachment-oriented and applied positive human developmental perspectives but none of these matter without the most important factor of success, the therapeutic relationship.

The first few sessions involves an assessment and focus on the therapeutic relationship. We will review how your family of origin worked, the dynamics and relationships, then, focus on how you tell the story of your life. From there, the goals will emerge and take us into the future.

I tend to see problems in systems, not individuals. I begin with a 3-4 meeting assessment. Day One: I ask many questions about the presenting problem and your systems. Day Two: I do a genogram, which provides insights into your family of origin. On Day Three: I initiate a Critical Life History, which lets me hear the story of your like. From there we create goals which lead is into the future.
