About
I began providing psychotherapy in Contra Costa in 1996 while obtaining my MA Degree with a Specialization in Couple and Family Therapy at John F. Kennedy's Graduate School of Professional Psychology. Since then I have continued working in Solano County with individual adults, children & teens, and their families, and couples. I facilitated men's groups in a jail-based substance abuse treatment program for four years while working at Youth And Family Services until 2005. I've been in private practice since then.
I think we're often haunted by past difficulties that come up in our current circumstances. Sometimes we might find ourselves "living a nightmare." By delving into the past and addressing feelings associated with difficult experiences we arrive at a sense that we've no longer haunted by the past or "living a nightmare."
I think it's important for a therapist to provide a clear plan that addresses the problems people seek help for. Our education and training equip therapists with a means to establish the cause and solution to difficulties, but it's our personality traits that ultimately help a client feel understood. The journey is sometimes difficult but always rewarding.
