I believe that the best therapist is one who can listen. Dr. Gabor Mate has had a great influence on me and strongly says therapists need to listen.
Listening in a non judgmental way and realizing that many of the answers are within the client themselves.....we just need to offer the "space" to help them discover this and articulate the issues.
Being able to be present non judgmentally in my opinion is the key to good therapeutic interaction.
