I believe that the more you put into therapy, the more you get out of it. Therapy is not solely a place to vent, but an avenue to strategize real behavioral changes to improve your life and relationships. By making a conscious effort to implement those changes outside of the therapy office and taking responsibility for yourself, you are most likely to benefit from treatment. I am a masters-level, Connecticut-licensed clinician with over 20 years of experience in outpatient and residential treatment. I am a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and a clinical supervisor.
I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families struggling with various life stressors such as mood disorders, relationship/family conflict, grief, sexuality/gender issues, self-esteem, parenting and anger. I collaborate with clients to identify their strengths during difficult times and encourage them to apply these skills to current challenges.
I assist clients in understanding any possible linkage between past and present relationships, and their influence on mood and self-worth. I see my role not as a problem-solver, but as a collaborator to help empower people to take control of their lives and responsibility for their own fulfillment.
