Hi, my name is Michael (Mike) Chavez, LCSW. I work with individuals and couples. My approach to therapy is to listen, be empathic, and offer techniques to reduce symptoms. Sometimes we have to replace thoughts and behaviors that are not working for us with new ones that work better. I use a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach. Sometimes we have to let go of negative thoughts and replace them with healthy ones. I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to encourage clients to make positive changes. I use Solution Focused to encourage clients to focus on their strengths and solutions rather than the problem.
I am comfortable working with clients who are open to change and improving their daily lives by using the techniques offered in sessions. My communication style is to provide feedback and encourage clients to implement the techniques offered in sessions.
My passion for mental health support was ignited by witnessing individuals facing anxiety, depression, and other life challenges. In our first session, I work on developing rapport and identifying a diagnosis. I then Identify effective techniques aimed at reducing the client's symptoms.
