About
I believe life can get better. My style is active and emotionally connected, always respectful of the client's concerns, whether working with adults, children, or teens. My training helps me see the "big picture," but my skills include the flexibility to focus on concrete issues. Problems are quickly identified, because therapy does not have to last for years. Yet, many clients find value in examining life over the long term, within a warm, accepting therapeutic relationship, colored by directness, honesty, and humor.
My experience includes individual, couple, and family therapy. Many clients want to obtain more satisfaction in relationships and identify life goals. Others want to address depression/anxiety, or work through loss and grief. I facilitate these changes through understanding how people develop over the lifespan, and helping to identify real opportunities for change.
I work a lot with musicians, writers, painters, and other creative artists, drawing on my own experiences in the arts and research on creativity, including such areas as performance anxiety, creative depletion/replenishment, and examining discrepancies between artistic life and personal life. I also work with small ensembles to resolve stylistic and temperamental conflict.

Michael C Singer's Groups
Sexual Abuse Support Group
For men who have lived with the secret burden of sexual abuse, this is an opportunity to share your experiences with other survivors in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental atmosphere. Group participation is an important means of considering the possibilities available through empowerment, healing, and connection to others. The group explores issues of shame, guilt, safety, and relatedness and promotes greater self-awareness and responses to the challenges of life. The group is specifically for male survivors who are in long-term relationships with women, and who also struggle to understand their strong feelings of sexual attraction to men.
