My specialities include: PTSD and traumatic experiences, eating disorders, ADHD, intergenerational trauma, LGBTQ+ populations, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and domestic violence and sexual assault.
Hi there :) reaching out for help is one of the hardest things anyone can do, and often times it can feel overwhelming to acknowledge what needs to change. One of my goals as a therapist is to help you process your pain and become your best self through a combination of advocacy, assertiveness training, and humor. No matter what our individual struggle is, whether trauma, disordered eating, depression, anxiety, or family stress, we all have the same goal: to be the most healthy and happiest version of ourselves. And I would be happy to be by your side through this process :)

I do my best work with folx who can relate to these communities/areas: LGBTQIA+, alternative sexualities, kink, BDSM, various relational structures/orientations (ENM, polyamory relationships, throuples, families, etc.), gender/sexual identity and expression, sex therapy, traumatic sex, sexual abuse, psychedelic preparation/integration, and end of life processing.
I view our work through a lens of identity, community, trauma-responsiveness, relationship, and sexual multiculturalism. This means I consider how our various social identities, mental health, and behaviors exist within multiple levels of self and are impacted by the communities we are a part of.

individual therapy--marriage/couples therapy --- professors, college and graduate students --- sexual abuse --- gay/lesbian/queer community -- family of origin issues -- mood problems--personality patterns/dysfunctions
It's hard being a person. We all struggle to some extent in fundamental areas of human life-- relationships, identity, work, destructive behaviors, the meaning of life itself. Satisfying marriage/committed relationships are a specific challenge faced by many. I work in both individual and couples therapy. There are many ways to approach human problems, including: how family of origin influences personality; one's relationship to one's thoughts and feelings; self-defeating beliefs, both conscious and unconscious; self-defeating behavior. I value thoughtfulness and compassion, working together, and recognizing your goals and ideas.

I have experience providing therapeutic services for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, PLWHA, survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, kink/BDSM practitioners, people in polyamorous, non-monogamous, & RA dynamics, and sex workers.
Reaching out and seeking support for yourself can be extremely vulnerable and taxing, especially when you've already been trying to manage overwhelming emotions and the issues of every day life. Even if we do not end up working together, I am glad that you are out here exploring what kind of help is available to you. Shopping for therapists can be tricky. Wherever you are in your journey, my goal is to meet you there and help you discover safe and inviting possibilities towards your goals. I work well with queer and trans clients who have experienced relational, developmental, and/or sexual traumas/injuries.

Divorce, physical or sexual abuse and other traumas, attachment difficulties, and adoption issues are all areas in which I have extensive experience.
Relationships are central to my work, whether it be the relationship between a child or adult and myself, or the complex web of relationships within a family. My training and experience in Infant Mental Health--a type of therapy focusing on the attachment relationship between a primary caregiver and and an infant or young child--permeates all aspects of my work. I believe that therapy cannot separate an individual from the context of his or her relationships, past or present. I am creative and flexible in my approach to working with the children, teens, adults and families that I serve.

It is written, "Hope is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." A popular image of an anchor symbolizes safety and stability. Many people - maybe even you - face terrible storms in their lives: addiction, abuse, fear, loss of relationships, joblessness, loneliness and more. In response to life's storms, people turn to compulsive sexual behavior, anger, substance abuse and food to soothe themselves. These "medications" not only do not work, but create chaos in our lives. Other ways of dealing with turmoil include lying, isolation and feelings of shame, guilt and worthlessness. I offer a refuge to chart a new course.

I’m a very passionate therapist that centers her work around being trauma informed and client centered. I provide individual psychotherapy to adults that have a range of complex issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, stress management, identity and much more. I work with clients using an intersectional and social justice lens that has been developed over years of working with oppressed communities such as survivors on domestic and sexual violence. Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
