I completed my clinical social work degree in 2013 and I've been practicing therapy ever since. I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that may incorporate interpersonal, psychodynamic and somatic frameworks. I am also trained in EMDR. I understand that seeking therapy is a vulnerable thing to do and I will work with you to create a safe place for addressing the needs you bring to the table. I work most often with anxiety, grief , trauma and interpersonal issues.

We know what's not working in life, but what do we do about it? How do we get back in the driver's seat when we feel out of control? Life is hard and transitions are stressful! We feel stuck, overwhelmed, or both. I offer an accepting, empathetic environment, where you can heal, grow, and make sense of your life. I work with people facing the kinds of challenges life throws at us: relationships, career change, aging, grief and loss . Anxiety, depression, family history, and traumatic events can be complicating factors. We will focus on building self-compassion and self-acceptance, and discerning what is and is not within our control.

I draw from a variety of approaches, like Internal Family Systems (IFS) & parts work, different models of grief work, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Big life changes, like leaving a job to pursue a passion or moving to a new city to start a new life chapter & anything in between, can be hard to navigate. While these can be exciting adventures, these changes can surface lots of difficult feelings in addition to painful memories of moments from our past. Sometimes we feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed & lost in these situations. Many of us are told to feel happy about these changes, but that might not align with our lived experiences. You’re not alone in this - we can work together to help you find comfort in navigating all of these things.

I have a background with recovery, LGBTQ+ identity development, and grief & loss .
You’ve made a courageous step in seeking therapy. Therapy can help us heal and grow, through deep listening and presence. Early life shapes how we create our sense of self, learn boundaries, and tend to feelings. We can decide now how we want to show up for ourselves and others, uncovering skills and beliefs that no longer serve us.

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Grief and Bereavement Theory and Complex Trauma to support you in uncovering the truth of who you are.
Are you finding that you have less patience at work for yourself and others around you? Are you feeling disillusioned and wondering if you are experiencing burnout? What you may be experiencing is “moral injury” rather than “compassion fatigue.” You realize that the reasons you went into your profession are not able to be actualized because of the system your profession exists in. Together, we can find a way through all the chaos, so you can feel and live as the person you know yourself to be.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
