As a Black woman, I am intimately familiar with the pressure society places on individuals, and the ways in which this pressure can lead to a disconnect with our emotional and mental health needs.
My focus on social justice means I approach therapy in a way that honors each child’s strengths, is centered on their unique needs, and is informed by an understanding of trauma and neurodiversity. I combine these values with play therapy, attachment theory, mindfulness, and other integrative methods to support your child in a caring and effective way.

I have written 3 books; one on resilency titled, "Mining for Diamonds;" one about women's empowerment called "What Happens When Women Wake Up?".
I can be helpful to individuals who are wanting to understand themselves better and are invested in their personal growth. Sometimes people are aware of issues that keep showing up, but have been unable to work through them alone. Sometimes a crisis occurs that acts as a catalyst for seeking professional guidance. Often symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia interfere with enjoyment. Frequently relationships are not working well and support in resolving conflicts and communication skills can be crucial. I have over 30 years experience in helping individuals and couples grow and increase their happiness and well being.

My therapy practice is tailored to queer folks and women.
Have you talked about your traumas but are still struggling? Maybe you've already been to therapy but the same things are still bothering you. Have you been doing all the 'right things' and they aren't working? Sometimes just talking about our hurts isn't enough. We may need to access deeper parts of ourselves to heal traumatic experiences and be free.

I support clients (mostly women) who are suffering from Anxiety (are stressed out) or Depression (a lack of fulfillment) due to prioritizing the needs of others over their own.
Accessing our creative impulses and bringing inspired ideas into the world is an overlooked part of mental health care! I’ve been supporting the liberation & self-expression of my clients for decades as a mental health professional and for the last 10 years in the creative & spiritual arts. From ideas as small as doing less and saying “No” more often to express your homebody nature to grand visions of impacting your community with a non-profit or small business. The divine discontent of the unexpressed self does not go away.

I am devoted to supporting women and the LGBTQ+ community, advocating for safety, human rights, and reproductive justice.
As a therapist, my primary goal is to help my clients have more choice and spontaneity in their lives, as well as greater satisfaction. I want to help alleviate suffering, whether generated from past traumatizing experiences or from current experiences. I believe that we all have many answers and great potential inside us but are often blocked from accessing our own wisdom, meaning we only function on a modest amount of this potential. It gives me great joy to help my clients find their answers and discover problem-solving abilities through the therapeutic process.

I have walked beside many women as they journeyed through anxiety, depression, grief, relationship changes, body issues, identity shifts, cancer and more.
I invite my clients to come as they are in the truest sense. Each week you will begin to experience the freedom to discover and connect with who you really are. You will find and speak in your authentic voice. Here you will be truly heard and validated. You will begin to trust yourself and explore your Inner Knowing, including the wisdom of your body, to make aligned decisions in your life. Leave all the “shoulds” behind. You don’t need to perform or to pretend to be anyone who you are not. Together we will create a safe space - a soft landing each week where you can begin to relax and unpack your story.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
