Life can be complicated. These complications know no economic, age, sex, religious, or racial boundary. As a practitioner working with individuals to empower them is my passion and privilege. If you are currently working to navigate through a difficult time we can work together to set goals, realize and regain your strengths to develop a long-term plan for success. There are times when everyone needs to strengthen his or her coping skills, see the situation from another view, or simply say it aloud. There are also times when the work that needs to be done is very serious. And deep. And difficult.

My hope is to help create a space where you can express yourself authentically and without fear of shame or judgement. I understand how difficult it is to ask for help, and take the time needed to explore your own thoughts, feelings, and actions. My goal is to help you explore thinking patterns, and how they play into some of the emotional hurt and discomfort. I want to help build on your strengths, while moving towards a place of vulnerability.

Psychological well being is an important aspect of overall health. Counseling can be a way to work through difficult life situations, manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, or other conditions, or a way to explore new avenues of coping. I believe counseling works best when both the therapist and the client are actively involved in the process. I believe therapy should be catered to the individual and the client should be seen as a whole person rather than broken apart into their symptoms.

I'm very interested in a person's patterns. It's been my experience that a person's patterns often serve to increase or maintain their symptoms of depression and anxiety. Different patterns that consistently impact these symptoms include communication style, emotional expression, connection to others, and how someone addresses problems. My work focuses on identifying patterns, understanding how they influence symptoms and behaviors, and then helping someone make decisions about how to change them. My hope is that people end their work with me with increased self-awareness, improved relationships, and a sense of wholeness.

You deserve to be heard, understood, and validated. When you don’t feel accepted, you may blame yourself. You might wonder what’s wrong with you, or what you’re supposed to be doing differently. You may just need more support to heal and cope, so that you can live more comfortably and freely as your full self. I often work with women who are struggling with issues like stress, anxiety, and past trauma. I offer support for college-age women who are dealing with new relationships and career pressures, moms who aren’t sure how to support their own adult children, and every stage in between.

I feel that change is an inevitable part of life regardless of whether we choose to accept or resist it. Life will present us with challenges and opportunities, and it is our job to figure out how to navigate them. Processing through the emotional effects of change can be uncomfortable. As individuals we are constantly evolving, and it is important to be mindful of the ways in which we experience life's changes. Safety and comfort are key, and I am mindful of this as I help you grow.

Life can sneak up on you, often looking much different than you had intended. Sometimes these differences are hard to navigate and understand. As a clinician, it is my privilege and responsibility to help you learn how to navigate these situations. Most individuals are much stronger and more resilient than they give themselves credit for. We can work together using your own strengths to identify hopes and goals for treatment, and find realistic approaches to working toward these goals. You have the tools within yourself to achieve your goals; I will help guide and strengthen these tools.

Secular psychology has many models for helping people live psychologically and socially healthy lives. And while there is value in these approaches, they are at root secular and not founded upon a religious or spiritual understanding of reality. For some people, the spiritual or religious is central to who they are and how they live. These people are not comfortable with the secular notion that one can be fully healthy while ignoring God. As a Christian, who is trained in secular psychology and Christian theology, I offer as an option a Christian counseling approach that attempts to incorporate the best of both worlds.

As a therapist, my aim is to provide support to people as they deal with life's challenges. Life can be overwhelming and I enjoy helping people navigate the challenges that arise in a healthy way. I specialize in working with those who experience depression, low self-esteem, and/or have a history of trauma. During sessions, I focus on creating an emotionally safe space so that together, we can explore your concerns and help you move towards healing. If appropriate, I am comfortable incorporating your spirituality in sessions. I believe in the mind/body/spirit connection and am open to exploring this in session as well.

We all have seasons when life feels hard. In those seasons, it can be invaluable to have safe spaces where we can come and be ourselves, regardless of how messy that might look. It is my goal, to provide that safe space for clients to come, be themselves, and explore what it looks like to step more fully into who they were created to be. Together we will set goals and help you work towards those goals in holistic, healing ways.

BlueCross BlueShield Therapists
BlueCross BlueShield insurance provides coverage for behavioral health services in Wyoming. BCBS HMO-style plans cover in-network providers while PPO plans provide a benefit that can be applied to either in-network or out-of-network providers. Blue Cross Blue Shield may not require a referral from your primary care practitioner for covered behavioral health services.

Some BCBS Therapists in Wyoming only have room for a few insurance slots in their schedule, so it's important to confirm in-network availability when you book your first appointment.

Blue Cross Blue Shield companies are independently owned and community-based healthcare insurers. BCBS is the largest health insurer in the US, covering 110 million members in 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Nationwide, more than 1.7 million health care providers contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies.

Here’s a link to more information on how insurance works to cover behavioral health benefits.
