Therapy is not about creating an absence of negative feelings, or conversely, about creating happy feelings. It's about helping you live a productive life and assisting you in developing and sustaining meaningful relationships. It’s also about learning and applying the skills needed to grow from life’s ups and downs. Therapy is about creating a healthy and balanced life. You have everything you need to create the life you want. You might feel powerless but you are not. You might feel hopeless but there is hope. When we are stuck in negativity it feels hopeless and as if change is not possible. Therapy can give you that hope.

You have been carrying a lot for a long time. Even when you try your hardest, it’s difficult to feel engaged—with work, relationships, or yourself. You have goals, but taking action feels like climbing a mountain without a clear path. Most days, just making it through feels like an achievement in itself. You’re ready for something different. I support folks dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma, and I’m especially committed to working with queer, trans, and BIPOC folx, as well as sex workers and those in polyamorous relationships. You don’t have to figure it all out alone—I’m here to help.

I'm a Clinical Supervisor & specialize in working with Therapists, LGBTQIA+, Neurospicey folks, & Sex/ Kink/Identity care.
Hello, I’m James, and thank you for being here. Whether you are new to therapy or have been sitting on the therapy chaise lounge for years, welcome! First off, there is no "perfect" way to do therapy and there is no "perfect" way to be a client. Frustrating, I know - let's talk about it! I strive to make my practice safe, comfortable, individualized and resourceful. Another core tenant of my practice that I find equally important: your agency/choice. You are the brain in the body, after all, and I will do my best to collaborate with you for achieving your aims (General response time: 48-72 hrs).

Navigating life as a student can feel exciting, confusing, or overwhelming. You might be exploring new friendships or relationships, questioning parts of your identity, or adjusting to the pressures of school and independence. Maybe you want a space to talk openly about sexuality, pleasure, consent, or experiences you’ve never shared before. If you’re looking for a therapist who understands the realities of campus life and can support you through transitions, identity exploration, and relationship challenges, I’m here to help you make sense of it all.

I enjoy working with couples and individuals who experience problems in their relationships. Relationship and family dynamics offer a number of opportunities for tension and conflict, thus needing an unbiased third party to lead discussions in a healthy and healing manner. I believe communication is vital in any relationship, and I help teach how to listen and "fight" in a healthier way. Everyone has disagreements, but not everyone knows how to argue while being vulnerable. My ideal clients recognize that they need guidance, are ready to be vulnerable with their partner, and want help to build healthier relationships.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialized knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organizations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.

How can individuals recognize a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognize a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
